Hello! I am new to this forum and am super excited about our early June trip to celebrate our 20th anniversary! We are staying the week at Grand Desert. Any experience here? We decided to stay here since it was cheaper (using parents points) and the 1 bedroom vs hotel room appealed to us more. Website shows shuttle every 20 minutes to center strip which makes us happy. I'm aware it doesn't run late so we will probably get Lyft or Uber back every night. Any tips you could offer would be most appreciated!

Just looked it up and, for most people, you are well within walking distance to the Strip. Neighborhood is pretty much all hotels and you could cut through Elara and the Miracle Mile mall to Planet Hollywood and you are right in the middle of things. You are also very close to the Hard Rock which is worth visiting for the rock n roll memorabilia. Also walkable but neighborhood less touristy.

It's a beautiful resort and the rooms are very nice. The main differences between this place and a hotel are you have a full kitchen, but likely not daily housekeeping, depending on what type of"points" you used.

They will probably ask you to go to a timeshare presentation. Unless that was a condition of your stay, which it probably wasn't, I suggest you decline it with a firm but persistent "no thank you". You don't have to give a reason. The show tickets and restaurants they offer are for second tier shows that are easy to get at deep discounts at ticket booths, kshp.com, goldstar.com, etc. They will only bother you with this when you check in, and then you can enjoy your vacation.

    Hi again, Brookeer!
I looked through our photos from that trip and found these additional images of the property that may help you get a better picture of what WGD is like...

Night view looking north from the property

Three images of the "key folder" with info about the property (Missing a page due to picture not turning out.)

Shuttle hours, at least at the time of our trip.
    v55.jpg

Spot behind Harrah's that served as the shuttle stop.

I do remember that the property was very well-kept and clean. Safe and comfortable IMO.

Topgolf, just to the west, was still under construction at that time.

My last pic of WGD before check-out.

Hopefully you will find these helpful!
Again, congrats and best wishes as your trip approaches! :D

Great pool area as well. A very comfortable stay. I can't remember if its the 1 bedroom deluxe or lock-off that has a lg whirlpool tub as well as a separate shower.

I have stayed there several times, granted its been a few years, the resort is nice but I honestly can't stand staying there anymore because I am the type that doesn't really start to play in the casino till about 10pm. The shuttle thing is the deal breaker for me. I have made the walk from the strip but it's not my favorite thing I've done. I wanted to like the hard rock and have made that somewhat sketchy walk but I can't seem to win a dime there. Uber seems like it could be a good option for you. I would say check it out for yourself and have a blast.

Last time we stayed there (probably 4-5 years ago) it was getting pretty worn in the building we were in. And they usually do their same game where they want you to stop at the other desk to get your parking permit so they can pimp you to buy a timeshare with them...

If you have a choice, their newest location (Wyndham Desert Blue behind the Rio) is nicer. It's a closer walk to get to the Rio than Grand Desert is to walk to Paris or Planet Hollywood. They do the same crap there. The front desk clerk wanted me to stop by Member Services (or whatever they call it there) but I skipped it. I kept getting phone messages to stop by Member Services but I ignored them. Then the phone started ringing after I went to bed which really pissed me off. So I unplugged the phone. I plugged it back in when I left for the morning & then that day I had a message saying that engineering needed to get into my room to check on "something". I ignored that one too since I was checking out early the next morning. This was a solo trip and my wife said that they keep calling on my home phone number too. I haven't listened to it yet but she said that the last one said they were concerned about me since I had not answered any of their messages and my do not disturb sign was up...give me a break guys...I'm not in the market to buy a ridiculously priced timeshare from you..

My take on the Wyndham locations in Las Vegas is that they are a step below the Hilton & Marriott timeshares and Desert Blue is better than Grand Desert.
