I can't. The mall that was home to my mallrat years is a zombie and under a demolition order. Every time I see photos of it empty I want to vomit.

There is a "sad mall" in Aberdeen that we pass on the way to our favorite beach. We watched it dwindle down over the years and once Sears left, it was just a movie theater and empty stores. Now they've added an "EXTREME Fun Center", whatever that is. We still only see a handful of cars by the movie theater when we drive by.

There is a show on Viceland called "Abandoned".....this older skateboarder roams around to different cities/places to check out what once was now is.....malls, schools, etc. I had no idea how badly some areas of the US had been hollowed out......https://www.viceland.com/en_us/show/abandoned

The JCPenney where I bought all of my dress shirts and ties was the main anchor store at our closest mall, about 40 miles away.
It closed and now Hallmark and other stores are closing or moving out.

Every time I clip on one of my ties I think back to the fun times at the local mall!

Reminds me of our once cute little mall that has since been torn down to make way for BJ'S wholesale store as well as a Lowe's...

BJ's are just offered individually in our neck-of-the-woods! :poke:

(Usually not to guys wearing clip-on ties, though...)

Unfortunately we have one mall around here that is circling the drain, and another where one of the anchors (Dillards) has just announced closure and two other anchors are Sears and JCP!

I love abandoned buildings and such. Just fascinating for some reason.

The mall near me was like this for a while until new ownership came in and now its really nice, one of the nicest busiest ones around.

There are a lot of videos on Youtube of people exploring abandoned buildings and malls. A couple that surprised me were abandoned mental health hospitals where prescription meds still in their original packaging were found (buildings had been empty for many years). Watched one yesterday were over a dozen syringes, still capped, were laying on a counter.

    Yes, they do!

I worked with emotionally-challenged youth and needed to wear a tie that would just fall off when students would pull it.
The tie falling off was a lot healthier for me than choking!

Sometimes the tie popping off and ending up in their hand would get the angry student laughing and help the situation diffuse faster! :D

If/when our local mall does finally go under, I will get in there with my board and a camera crew to immediately begin filming  Gleaming The Cube 2: Richard Strikes Back.

Also, add a team of medical professionals on standby. Maybe make that two teams! :D

I was in vegas last week. I visited the Boulevard mall. So depressing, even the regular stores are jumping ship. One whole side of the mall is totally empty. They have a Sears and a JCP store there but only a matter of time before one or both close IMHO. Even the Macy's store closed there.

They are trying to revive the place. The mall now has a flagship goodwill store and they also brought in some sea exhibit to attract the kids and hopefully parents with the hope that people will come back to shop at the mall.

I see a few malls in the YouTube list I'm familiar with. Will certainly check this out.

A few malls may be a bad sign, but China has us outdone on this front - they have entire ghost cities.

The two malls close to me (50 miles each way) both have a Macy's that just closed. That leaves Sears, Younkers, Scheels & JCP at one and Sears, JCP & Herbergers at the other. Still makes me nervous- a few of their retail known venues have closed too. And Christopher & Banks and CJBanks have consolidated into one storefront. Something newly empty every trip I swear.
