So you can get long hauled by Lyft. My driver just took the tunnel and long hauled me to the Linq. Cost me $28. I'm going to complain to Lyft but it can happen just so you are aware.

$28 to mid-strip...that is BS. Definitely report the jerk.

Maybe he's an Indians fan? We're still just a tad bitter about that whole 3-1 thing ;)

Doesn't Lyft give you up-front pricing now? They do where I live anyway, so long-hauling wouldn't matter in terms of price you'd pay. Maybe they haven't implemented up-front pricing in Vegas yet? Or maybe you paid $28 because of surge pricing?

As far as I remember, the Lyft app showed me a route map on my phone when I got in the car. The driver made two choices that were a block off of the route, but I would have screamed my head off if we were heading for the tunnel. Please let us know what the resolution is.

The only Lyft service that I know of that is offers up front pricing is Lyft Line. And disputing it with Lyft (or Uber if they are were the service you used) is the way to go...that is, as long as surge or prime time pricing wasn't in place at the time.

It's also a good idea to rate the driver low. Too many low rating and they get booted from driving.

That really won't do anyone any good. Most Lyft drivers also drive for Uber.

Easily solved by reporting, and Lyft will take it away from the driver or at least adjust the fare to what it should have been. $28 does sound like primetime, that would be taxi cab fare using the tunnel, not these ride share apps at regular rate.

You mean in Vegas, right? Like I said, Lyft offers up-front pricing for services other than Lyft Line. They've been offering it in select cities since late 2016.

Wanted to give an update. I complained and got an email back from Lyft. They refunded most of the ride. After the refund the total was only $10. I rated the driver a 1 star and now I'm enjoying my trip.

Also wanted to add and say there was no surge pricing in effect at the time

when you put your locations in, lyft will give you an estimate like $10-$17...you wont pay more, you wont pay less...and you say it wasnt surge pricing but it absolutely had to be.

lyft took the tunnel for us last trip, we were going to ballys, i didnt care much because it was really early and i was just enjoying the view. the ride was $9

I was recently long hauled by Uber from McCarren to Flamingo - the tab was $23 but it should have been $16. Part of the scam is the drivers follow GPS direction to the formal strip address but the passenger drop off is different, for example the Flamingo drop off is in the back the hotel. The drivers know this but they use the GPS as the excuse. I gave the driver 1 star but I won't let the extra charge ruin my trip.

The only way to fly anymore. And the money was taken out of the driver's fees, so essentially he just wasted his gas and put more miles on his car trying to cheat you.

Still dont buy it, the hotels might be big, but they aren't THAT big.

On our trip in Feb we had to get from LAS to Aria because we weren't picking up our rental car until the next day. We took LYFT and I wasn't paying attention. The driver took the tunnel, at which point I (not so politely) asked him why he was going that way. He was new to Vegas and LYFT and he said that that was the way the GPS said to go. When we got on 15 the traffic was at a standstill and I again expressed my displeasure. I really do think it was an honest mistake and the guy was clearly rattled. He cancelled the ride so it cost us nothing. We did tip him generously.

I still don't get how an Uber or Lyft driver can long haul you. I have used Uber and Lyft in Vegas and in NYC (where I live) and I have never seen anything other than an upfront flat rate, and that is what I have paid. I don't understand how they can adjust the price when the app itself is generating the price based on pickup and dropoff locations, not the driver.
