    Hi all-

Just booked a comped "deluxe" king room at the Linq, and when I finished up, a pop-up came on saying I will be offered an upgrade to a "luxury" king for $8 per night.

What is the difference, really? Size? Location? Amenities?

Also, Haven't stayed there in a long time. Do they still just have the shampoo and soap pumps instead of bottles? I hate that.

In my experience, Luxury means a view of the Strip and Deluxe means a view of...something other than the Strip. Could be the High Roller, could be a the dumpster. Who knows.

I believe luxury has the sitting area in the room. A couch and s chair with an additional tv. Not 100% positive on that though.

From what I can gather on the website, the deluxe rooms run 250-350 square feet for most categories while the luxury rooms are 400.

The Luxury 1 King Room features all of the amenities of a Deluxe King room, plus a bit more space. We're talking nearly 150 sq ft in some cases or as low as 50 in others

250Sq Ft? Is this the standard size for base level rooms at CET properties or is this unique to Linq?

That's how it was when I was there in December. I'm not a fan of it either.

I would imagine that's because of the Linq's roots as a, ahem, "budget" property. Even their suites only range from 600SF to 1000SF, which is cozy compared to more modern strip hotels.

You gotta remember the Linq/Harrahs/Ballys/Cromwell are generally old joints. The room sizes reflect the history of the buildings. They were built at different times by different companies/people.

The pump dispensers are still there. I really dislike them! We always bring our own soap and shampoo.

They save the casino money -- the Even (a new IHG chain) does them too. I feel like they're unsanitary + I don't know what people dump into them lol

i just booked the LinQ for the week of August 20th. My doctors gave me a clean bill of health (relatively speaking LOL).
First time in Vegas since i had my surgeries. The last time i was in Vegas was Nov.2015. So 2016 was the only year i missed since 1977.
I'm still fortunate that using my rate calendar (after missing a year and a half) i have comped weeks at Rio, Harrah's, and the place i really wanted, the LinQ, was comped. I prefer comped rooms because you don't have to pay beforehand, just when checking out, but i am booked.
I have stayed at IP many times in the past, (not LinQ) but i know the rooms are on the small side but that's fine. I never liked the IP casino, but i do love the LinQ casino. Been there a few times when the new casino took effect.
I don't usually book in August, usually the Spring and Fall, sometimes in July. But the heat in August (hey, it's a dry heat) will be welcomed since my body, because of the surgeries, feels better when it's warmer, and 120 degrees in the shade will do the trick.

I usually get the highest floor possible without upgrading, so i'll ask for that.
I love that all the rooms have mini fridges, so i'll stock up at CVS/Walgreens.
I booked the "Deluxe" High Roller room. I am Gold.
