As I depart Vegas very early tomorrow morning :( I am now planning ahead for my summer trip here and thinking about switching it up...I was at the Mirage this evening and that made me begin wondering if it would be fun to hang out for a couple nights there as they have a lot going on if you just want to hang out there for a couple days..for those that have stayed there, is it worth it? Is it better to reserve the Oasis pool? My home base is usually Aria, and during the summer I also stay at Signature(or Delano) if that helps..thank you!

Mirage is pretty cool. We've spent some time there before, nice sportsbook and poker room, good places to eat.

Years ago we used to stay there every trip. If you like your pool time I'd do the Oasis reservations. Unless something has drastically changed, the pool scene in the morning is pure craziness. The pool would open at 8am (in the summer) and the line would start forming at 6am and be back to the coffee shop by the time it opened. Then everybody would run like maniacs to get a "poolside" chair. Like any pool, there are only so many that are poolside and the rest you get stuck back a few rows. They always used to jam the chairs in like sardines too but again, it's been years for us so not sure if they still do that. Maybe someone else will chime in. Also, if you decide to stay there, go for the Tower Deluxe room, much nicer bathroom with double sinks and a separate shower versus the std rooms that have one sink and a tub/shower.

Unfortunately the pool situation still remains crazy if you want to ensure that you get a poolside lounge chair.

The Mirage has been one of our 'go to' hotels, great location, nicely set up casino and rooms with many dining choices, but the morning pool ritual is something that l hate about the hotel.

I am particular about securing a poolside lounge chair but every year you have to arrive earlier and earlier as more people are willing to start lining up by 7am during the summer and often the line up is poorly managed by staff as people often butt in at the last moment and get away with it. On my holidays l would prefer the chance to sleep in than spending 30-45 min lining up in the early morning to secure poolside lounge chairs.

I guess this is why we sometimes book the M Resort for our last 1-2 days of our Vegas holidays for total R&R before flying home.

We like Mirage as well, love the location. Yes hotel seem bit dated and pool situation doesn't help being so crowed as well. I believe they do have pool area where there's "charge" then it's less crowed; easier access to lounge chairs. Overall we really didn't had too much issues finding lounge chairs, people are friendly (mostly family environment) good table games - slots seem bit tight lol. Good luck!

We've stayed there 3 times out of our last 5 trips and we really enjoy it. My only complaint is that damn line at Starbucks every morning!

I love the Mirage. Not next to the pool edge, but when I was there in the middle of last June, I had no trouble finding a lounger when I would go out the pool in the early afternoon...

    amk,121,

I had the same idea of switching things up within Mlife. MaBay is my current home, but have always wanted to stay at Mirage.

Years ago, I have stayed at other MGM properties: Monte Carlo, Luxor and Excal. But Mirage always held an allure with me. Maybe it was because of its heyday or the tie to my favorite vegas movie, Vegas Vacation. So I took the plunge. Mlife placed an offer in my account for two comp nights at the Mirage and I back-ended my trip with 3 nights at my home base, MaBay. This was in February.

(sigh) I wanted to love Mirage, really I did. While I enjoyed some of it, there was some I didn't.

    LIKES
    Location
    Great food outlets
    Outstanding valet staff
    Friendly front desk staff

    DISLIKES
The old walk-through-the-entire-casino-to get-to-your-room (typical casino design)
Lacking variety of new slots or broken old slots
Dated rooms (mine had green limescale around bathroom fixtures, corner of carpet was pulled away with water damage on wall)
    Bedframe cracked

Don't get me wrong, for free it's a no brainer. But paying full load, nah.

As much as I hate to let the secret out, unless Starbucks itself is a requirement, check out Roasted Bean (head through the gift shop to the retail stores and take a right). Best of all, they have a drink only express line.

For anybody that hasn't stayed at the Mirage, it is no longer anything like what you see in the Vegas vacation movie. If it was, it'd still be one of the best places on the strip.

DM, I understand. I only mentioned it as a tie (reference) to the movie, not the actual setting.

The last several trips, our home base has been Bellagio and I think we're moving back to Mirage. Or at least for this trip. The Mirage casino isn't my favorite, but I am really just sick of all of the gawkers bustling through Bellagio (kids running through, everyone with strollers, groups of 10 pushing their way to get to the conservatory, peering at your machine as they walk through, etc). It's funny that my comps at Bellagio are way better than at Mirage, but I guess that's just an amount of play thing.

I also like that you can cross at street level to so many other places. Our favorite place to play is TAG at the Linq so that puts us pretty close. The pool situation leaves a lot to be desired. Beautiful area, but I think sardines have more room that you do at the Mirage main pool. If we were going to spend time at the pool, I'd probably do the Oasis pool, just for the comfort factor.

I like the Mirage. I stay there usually once a year or so.

The only thing I can't stand are those tiny tiny bathrooms in their standard rooms! They drive me crazy!

I've stayed at Mirage in May, June, and July.

    Prime pool months.

I have never had an issue getting two chairs together in a decent spot.

If we want at pool edge as long as there when they open (I believe 8am) have had zero issue.

Not sure when others go, but I've never had an issue. If you arrive midday you will looking for a bit to find two together, but not impossible.

My last five trips have been to Bellagio, Palazzo, and Cosmo and I like Mirage pool the most. Love their bartenders at poolside bar.

    I wouldn't hesitate to book.

Mirage used to be our home base, but we have switched to Cosmo. I just don't care much for the Mirage casino floor and I've never really done a thing on the slots there. The rooms are ok. I'd stay there again on a comp probably but I don't think I'd pay for it. We don't use the pools so I can't offer any advice on that.
