    Hello,
I am booked at Fremont but I am considering switching to the Plaza. I have never stayed at the Plaza but I have been hearing good things. Which one would you stay at and why? I'm not picky but a couple of things that are important to me are a comfy chair in the room, good WiFi and good drink service on the casino floor. Thanks in advance for any input!

If your gambling and tipping you'll never have a issue getting a drink downtown is my experience. I switched from 4 queens to plaza last trip and will stay at the plaza again. We have a event at Bally's next month and hoping to get to plaza in our downtime to check out the pool area. Had a opportunity to met one of the managers from Plaza who's on here from time to time and got a great tour and trip to the steak house (that we missed because of having to much fun in the earlier part of the day). It seems the slots are more friendly in that area (MSS Califonia and the Plaza). Also the best BJ too.

The rooms and (especially) bathrooms at the Plaza are larger than at the Fremont. For gambling I would rather play at the Fremont than the Plaza (sorry Curtis). I just like the machines, tables and the vibe better at Fremont IMHO. The Plaza also charges a resort fee which Fremont does not so if you are looking at nightly rates you need to add in the resort fee for the Plaza. You have to pay extra for wifi at the Fremont while the wifi is offered with the resort fee at the Plaza. The Plaza has direct tv so has many free channels while the Fremont only has the standard 20 or so channels.

Fremont has their buffet as well as their café. They also have a tony romas as well as a lanai eatery, Dunkin D and dessert shop. Plaza has Mcd's, pop up pizza, subway, HHAGG and one or two other eateries. Fremont does not have self park so if you have a car be sure to add in valet tips with your costs. Plaza has a self park but I'm not sure how much it costs for guests (I think it was free but I cannot confirm, been a few years since I stayed there).

Since you never stayed at the Plaza you may want to consider it, just to experience the place for yourself.

Fremont is nice because you can be to Fremont St from your room in 5 mins. I stayed there once and didnt care for the cleanliness of the place and was in poor shape. I cannot speak to the Plaza. If you dont care at all about the room, Fremont isnt terrible.

Obviously my vote is for the Plaza...I have stayed at the Fremont before and it was fine, but I prefer the rooms and amenities at the Plaza.
The rooms sometimes have a desk chair and sometimes a small couch. My room last fall had an easy chair.
Drink service has always been great, at least that is my experience.
The WIFI is strong and fast. (And I love that is it free if your room is comped)

I will be there again soon!
Here are pictures of my room last fall....

I recently stayed at Fremont and the room was clean and quiet but the bathroom was very tiny. I would pick Fremont because the smell they pipe in at the Plaza is so horribly strong I can't stand it. I walk in and can't breathe. El Cortez is the same way. I know some posters said it had gotten better but I tried it again at Christmas and it was still deal breaker for me.

Certainly in terms of location, the Fremont wins vs. the Plaza... but let's be real - the distance between the two is shorter than the distance from the Mirage elevators & the Mirage main entrance....or from Carson Tower at the Nugget to the main casino floor.

The rooms at the Plaza are most definitely nicer - and larger....and, if you're on a comp, there is no resort fee (but you'll have to pay for daily WiFi, if you want it).

If they're both available as comps, choose Plaza. If Fremont is comped & Plaza is not, choose Fremont.
If neither of them are comped, I'd probably still choose Plaza & ask Curtis (or another host) to comp the Resort Fee before you check-out.

PS - Plaza also has a direct airport shuttle available... I think it's $10, but hey - no other stops!

Does anyone know if there are elevator issues? I have heard horror stories about being stuck inside the Plaza's elevators that get stuck

lol no need to apologize, personal preference is understood indeed. I will say, we are continuously upgrading our culture for everyone to enjoy. Yes, we do charge a resort fee for those having to pay for their stay, however, based on casino play, we can comp your room nights once we evaluate. Parking for hotel guests and wi-fi is free indeed. And I do agree...give us a shot! We will not let you down. :)

Ahhhh, our wi-fi is free for hotel guests. :) Our shuttle is free to the airport for hotel guests as well.

I would pick the Plaza over Fremont. My only issue with the Plaza is the smell. I know they're 'working on it', and I know people say it's gotten better, but last time I was there (September) it was still really bad.

If they could address that, I'd definitely consider staying there again (haven't stayed there in years, but they used to comp me rooms all the time.) I would like to check out the pool when I'm there in July just to see how it looks.

    Curtis,
Has any attention been given to the condition of the VP machines on the floor? I always want to play more at the Plaza, but end up playing mostly blackjack because the VP machines are in such bad shape. By that I mean fuzzy, distorted, and/or off-color displays, sticky keys, and too many lights out on the keys. We play for hours, and a machine in decent condition is a must.
We play at a variety of downtown casinos, and more at the Fremont than the Plaza because they keep their machines in better shape.

The rooms are much larger, but I would disagree that the bathrooms are larger. Haven't taken a tape measure, but if anything believe the Fremont bathroom is slightly larger due to the shape. Maybe you consider it larger because the hand sink is outside the bathroom but when you have to move just right so you can close the door, to me that's small! I really enjoyed the north tower when I stayed there. I would agree, would prefer to play at Fremont over Plaza, but I would rather play at MSS over both of them. On my last trip we had breakfast at hash house, was pleasantly surprised (so sorry DuPar's gone from GG).

Not sure if this has been mentioned in another thread. The plaza has a new restaurant. Decent looking stuff. Prices a little high for downtown though.

I've stayed at both places. The Plaza is much nicer. A $3000 loss at Plaza got me a suite. A $4000 plus loss at Fremont they gave me 2 buffets. Seems crooked. Maybe i should sue. Seriously though it doesn't seem right

I would pick the Plaza over the Fremont. (In fact I did for our upcoming trip!) I think the rooms are bigger and while I'm not a fan of the bathroom set up, I'll deal with it. The pool is great if you are a pool person. Lots of room and it wasn't super crowded when we were there in September. The elevators were also good, way better than the year before. They must have fixed them.

Thanks everyone for the input. I have reached out to Curtiss from this message board about possibly switching to The Plaza. Sounds like some good things are happening there!

Another thing to consider if you're a slots or VP player. Many of the Fremont machines are coin in, coin out. Also Fremont machines don't accept new bills. Yup you read that right, try putting any new bill into a machine at the Fremont it'll be spit out. Employees all say that the machines don't accept them. They'll change it out for you, but it's a big hassle. Rooms are small but decent, food choices aren't good in the hotel but lots available nearby.
