Damn, i didn't think I was that old, but I only missed #1, Blackjack gum. All others I remember and used. Well not the Studebaker & Packard, but certainly saw them on the street. The first car my family had was a 1955 Nash. My oldest brother taught my mother to drive when he came back from the Air Force. Before that it was walk or take a bus.

Count all the ones that you remember not the ones you were told about. Ratings at the bottom.

    1. Blackjack chewing gum.
    2. Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water.
    3. Candy cigarettes.
    4. Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles.
    5. Coffee shops or diners with table side jukeboxes.
    6. Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers.
    7. Party lines on the telephone.
    8 Newsreels before the movie.
    9. P.F. Flyers.
    10. Butch wax.
11.. TV test patterns that came on at night after the last show and were there until TV shows started again in the morning. (there were only 3 channels...(if you were fortunate).

    12. Peashooters.
    13. Howdy Doody.
    14. 45 RPM records.
    15. S&H green stamps.
    16. Hi-fi's.
    17. Metal ice trays with lever.
    18. Mimeograph paper.
    19. Blue flashbulbs.
    20. Packards.

    21. Roller skate keys.
    22. Cork popguns.
    23. Drive-ins.
    24. Studebakers.
    25. Wash tub wringers.

If you remembered 0-5 = You're still young.
If you remembered 6-10 = You are getting older.

If you remembered 11-15 = Don't tell your age,
If you remembered 16-25 = You' re older than dirt!

It's official, I am old as dirt!
I missed the Studebaker & Packard. I've seen restored ones, but none when they were prevalent.
I have no idea what butch wax is. Mustache wax, maybe?

Butch wax. We would wait in elementary school to count mosquitoes or other bugs captured as you cycled to school with that crew cut! I thin 7 was the record. THAT stuff was sticky and I believe pink in the jar.

I didn't think I was old 20! But my father held on to his studebaker for a long time. And for some reason mom kept the ringer washtub in the basement and used it up until the 2000's.

    I remember:
    2. Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water.
    3. Candy cigarettes. -
(I bought both of those at the ice cream/candy truck that came through the neighborhood. )
    14. 45 RPM records. - (I still have some of these)
    17. Metal ice trays with lever. (We had the metal ice cube trays mom would break out when she was having a party and was going to need the extra ice.)
    19. Blue flashbulbs.
    22. Cork popguns.
(I think there's one in Dan's desk that I got him as a gag gift somewhere)
    23. Drive-ins. (Um.. we still have drive-ins, you just have to drive farther out to get to them)

I have memories of some of the others, but those are related to early childhood trips to visit family in the rural midwest. Not sure how that skewers my results. :)

    4. Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles.
    5. Coffee shops or diners with table side jukeboxes.
    6. Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers.
    7. Party lines on the telephone.

11.. TV test patterns that came on at night after the last show and were there until TV shows started again in the morning. (there were only 3 channels...(if you were fortunate).
    15. S&H green stamps.
    25. Wash tub wringers.

Bah! Buncha youngsters with your "dirt." All we had was lava and we were damned glad to have it!

Gotta walk upright. No more dragging your knuckles on the ground. You just wait, mister. Just see what walking upright does for you!
