i received some free nights at Harrah's Laughlin, so i booked for April 11-13. Short trip.

I've never been before. i'm 60 so i'm sure i'll fit right in (From what i hear LOL) Anything i should do, or beware of? One non-casino thing i'm doing is hitting up Oatman to see the Donkeys.

Awesome, my family and I love Laughlin, it's old and run down but we love it, we also love Vegas and Atlantic City too, each place is different in it's own way.

I love the dealers in Harrah's Laughlin so much friendlier than any other city I have played in.

Oatman is awesome but don't do what I did and take carrots, I got severely told off, apparently carrots are bad for them - go figure!

We almost got sprayed by a skunk once walking outside early one evening outside of Harrahs in Laughlin. We saw him just walking past in front of us and we stopped cold in our tracks and didn't move. Thankfully he just kept going on his way and ignored us. That would have been a long stinky plane ride home LOL.

Oatman is fun, but was a much quicker experience than I expected. Its been a long time since we went (I think we went in 2009) but at the time there were people selling bunches of carrots to feed the donkeys. It was a nice scenic drive.

Laughlin is, well, there. :) It's OK, to say you've been there, but really not that exciting, in my not so humble opinion, that is.

IIRC, Harrah's is kind of on a hill and away from the big bolus of casinos.

The only place in that area where I've really done well gaming wise is the Avi, which is several miles south of the Laughlin "strip", if you can call it that.

Avoid the north tower unless you are bringing children. It is very noisy/busy and a hike from the casino. The south tower has elevators directly into the casino, and the center tower is close. There are separate pools for the north vs other towers so you can have a quiet poolside day. I have always found the employees very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at Harrahs years ago but now avoid it for two reasons. One, we like to walk and it's a long hike from everything. Second, we play VP and the machines are horrible. Never win. We have a friend who's a high level Harrahs player and she says the same thing. Oatman is fun esp the first time.

...catch the water taxi to the other casinos. The one thing that I did not like about Harrah's is that you can not walk to the other casinos easily. If you are out late and miss the last water taxi call a cab or Uber...that's a long walk back and uphill...

The water taxi was a highlight of our trip a few years ago. It shouldn't make you sick at all, the rides aren't that long and the water is fairly calm.

Oadman & Donkeys & Carrots ~ The reason they no longer want visitors to feed carrots is that young ones that are still nursing aspirate on carrots and die.

central tower with a river view is a nice upgrade -----mountain view faces parking lot and the street---------they have a nice diamond lounge if you hold a diamond card, not as much food variety compared to the ac casinos but a step up from the vegas casinos, the lounge has an outside patio that overlooks the river, very nice-----

as to Laughlin itself------much different than vegas------it is what it doesn't have that vegas has------no hustlers,muggers,porn-pushers,druggies,prostitutes,panhandlers------mainly an older crowd in a relaxed atmosphere------to each his own-----

I was there a couple years ago. one weekend in June the place was over booked. We got one of the last rooms in family tower. several other partys behind us did not. Seen them still waiting 3 hours later. About dusk everybody disappeared. Everyone gets free rooms there.

I love Laughlin, better the vegas anymore. There are about 8-9 casinos or something like that. Take the water taxi from harrahs to get to the next one or any other one. its $4 one way ir you can get a wrist band for all day for about $15. Gitta figure one casino and back is $8 so doesnt take many more rides to get your moneys worth.

You can also walk in the riverwalk whcih runs right on the river but it doesnt connect to harrahs for some odd reason. It is a long boring walk from harrahs to the next place so take the water taxi for sure.
The riverside way down on the far end has 2 car exhibits which are really cool.

Plus sign up for players club cards to get a bit of free play. your harrahs card will be the same but try at each place just to make sure.

Tropicana has live bands every day starting about 4m and running until midnight or so. On weekends they will have live bands in the riverwalk between colorado belle and edgewater. In and out burger is right on the little strip as well sothats always a plus.

Laughlin doesnt have the encore type places ad they dont have a bunch if shows or celebrity restaurants but for me, i dont go to those things anyway so why not save some money?

I just got an offer from Total Rewards Air for a charter flight comped and four comp nights. Never did the charter thing and am a little Leary of the flight aspect. Anybody have input about their reliability, equipment and flight experience?
Also, it seems like one could take advantage of the free flight, rent a car and drive to Vegas for a couple of days while keeping the free room in Laughlin. Thoughts?

If you are walking to or from Harrah's you can go through the parking garage and use the elevator to cut down on number of steps you need to take. You can also walk on to the top floor of parking garage at what is now the Laughlin River Lodge, take elevator to bottom, go into River Lodge take escalator's to bottom floor and you exit onto river walk and Golden Nugget is your next casino.

This walk to truly uphill both ways.

martinr------total rewards charter flites are fine, they make the Laughlin run all the time without issues--------your plan is certainly possible-----I have done the reverse------vegas to laughlin
-there are 3 or 4 car rental agencies at the airport which is in bullhead city------because of lack of competition prices may be a bit higher than at the vegas airport----also----the hours are limited----be wise to get your rental as you get off the plane----

downside is that you will need to rent a room in vegas unless you can get comps----also----total rewards will notice lack of play for the time you are away,if this means anything-----just stick a note on your door 'do not disturb' while you are away

Thanks. I wonder if CET would honor comps in Vegas during the same time period while the Laughlin room was technically a comp? I know they won't let you book comps in different properties in Vegas at the same time. Btw, is Bullhead City airport very far from the Laughlin "strip"?
