Most expensive piece of beef? And - did you actually like it?

In or outside of Vegas - What was the most expensive piece of beef / steak you've ever had and did you like it? If it was in Vegas - let us know where!

As I make reservations for my birthday dinner for this weekend and look at the menu http://salvatoresgrand.com/menu/ - the prices are pretty average for a steak house in Buffalo.

Mine was a $70 piece of Kobe beef in Boston recently and honestly I didn't like it - it was to juicy - like trying to swallow bubble gum. Melted in your mouth for sure, but was a lot effort to swallow it, lol...

My favorite steak was just a 8oz filet at Ruth's Chris in Chicago for $50-60? - lots of butter on it for sure, but a solid piece of meat.

I went back home to Bflo for the Tournament and we ate at Russell's. Wait staff are part of the fun as well, thought I think the steak is good not great.

 

Black and Blue is better but gift certificate!

 

It was local MGM Grand casino at Wolfgang puck steak Japanese A5 waygu 8oz. It was $250 probably the best steak I ever had so far....

 

Tried Wagu beef. Hated it. Give me a bone-in rib steak anytime.

 

Had the dry aged bone in ribeye at Prime, probably eighty bucks. Would have sent it back halfway through, just wasn't loving it. The fat distribution was a little uneven, really heavy in some bites. Not the chef's fault, maybe the cow's fault. The rest of the meal was flawless, but for the record my best steak to date wasn't the most expensive.

 

Had the 16 oz prime rib late one night at Binions it must have been 24ozs best prime rib i ever had.

 

8oz Japanese Wagyu at Strip House inside PH. Loved it and highly recommend it. $106. Picture doesn't do it justice

 

I'm the type of guy who thinks that Outback is fine dining. I walked out of STACK last trip because they wanted $53 for a steak. No thanks, I'll grill my own and be silently outraged over what the supermarket charges for a NY Strip.

 

Mine was a $62 New York Strip at Stripsteak just this past Friday. It was good but I actually thought Delmonico (Venetian) was much, much better and closer to $50. I almost feel like I could have gotten a similar tasting cut of meat for $30 or $40 back home.

 

I would say mine is 6 oz Kobe A5 for $330 dollars. True Kobe prefecture was only sold at 8 places in the US at last information Jean George's Aria being one of them.

 

Yep, over the last six or eight years, a lot of people were sold a lot of non-Kobe "Kobe."

 

American Wagyu 6oz filet at BLT for about $65 I think. Between apps and poppers, too full for my typical NY strip, glad I tried it....delicious!

 

That we've paid for? That would be one of our holiday USDA Prime strip-loin roasts from Snake River Farms, I'd guess. We've had plenty of 50+ buck steaks all over. The Wagyu tasting at Craftsteak might be the $$ leader, but that was a comp from a degenerate and a good friend.

 

Cant bring myself to pay alot for fancy steaks, just too thrifty I guess.

 

Steak, wine, beer, clothing, cars, art, tattoos, cigars, hookers ... different strokes for different folks, and that's what makes humanity so rich and interesting.

 

I'll second this. My boss gave me a USDA Prime brisket from them and my family couldn't stop raving about it. All the ones I get from Costco are now a let down.

Wagyu beef was disappointing to me too. $28/ounce at NOBU. Not good.

 

Does your Costco have USDA Prime? I like Costco's Choice, but the Prime is outstanding.
