Hello, I am planing a trip to Vegas this coming June with my Husband and my brother. We Will be staying for 4 nights. My friends and other family members are staying at Planet Hollywood so we need to be close, I have decided either the Elara or the Cosmopolitan.. This will be my husbands first trip to Vegas. I am torn between the wrap around suite at the cosmopolitan and the 1 bedroom suite at Elara. Both seem to have very nice features, ELARA with the projection screen and the floor to ceiling windows, not to mention the full fridge with ice maker and a two person jetted tub, but it also offers a sofa bed. Cosmopolitan Has the balcony, two bath rooms...both with showers several restaurants and a casino... Both are very close in price. Based on what i have read the couch at the cosmopolitan is not the most comfortable... but then again I am sure a sofa bed isn't the greatest either. Is there any one out there that has stayed at both? any help is greatly appreciated.

Have stayed in both hotels, though not the rooms you are looking at, and they do not compare. The Elara room was worn and not particually clean. When trying to use the tub black specs came out of the jets, showing it hadn't been cleaned properly. You are accosted in the lobby by time share sales. And Elara has no Casino and your food options are in the Miracle Mile of shops. Just not close.

Check out the reviews, don't look at the overall stars read some of the recent reviews.

Friends of mine stay at Cosmo. One of them sleeps on the couch and I haven't ever heard a complaint. I think the wrap around terrace rooms are among the nicest I've seen in Vegas. Love those views, especially of the Bellagio Fountains. All the rooms I've been in have had decent fridge storage. Also the shower in that hallway bath will fit about 15 people. :haha: I don't think you'd be disappointed there.

Forgetting the rooms for a moment...you say this is your husbands first trip to Vegas. Does he care about the whole "Vegas" thing? Like does he want to experience the casino sights and sounds, the bars, people partying - does he want to know what Vegas is all about? If so then it has to be Cosmo. There's just nothing like your first trip to Vegas and getting smacked in the face with the sensory overload of a hopping casino as your home base. Sure, you could check into the Elara and then go somewhere, but it's just not the same.

As far as the rooms go the WA Suite at Cosmo is awesome and will be a great place to stay. Couch is uncomfortable..pffftttt. I can't compare it to the Elara though because, well, it's Vegas and I wouldn't stay there. I have business associates that stay there because they hate casinos and gambling and drinking and fun and their lives and kittens and...

You had me at wrap around terrace...
One of the best rooms I've ever stayed in. Once you sit out on the terrace at night, you'll know you made the right decision.

We own a timeshare at Elara and have also stayed 5 nights at Cosmo. Our Cosmo room had a balcony but not the nice suite you are looking at. If you can get the Cosmo suite for the same price then I would pick that. When we stayed at Cosmo we used Marriott points. We like Elara too and have stayed there each year since 2009.

I've stayed at both multiple times and enjoy both for different reasons. I don't think you could go wrong with either, but it depends on what you want from your trip, and honestly, somewhat on your age!

Cosmo has the young, edgy, Vegas vibe...it practically screams Vegas! The wrap around suite is large with great views from the terrace, but could get pretty warm in the sun in June. If you're on the strip side of the Boulevard tower, the street noise is not insignificant unless you're pretty high up...I found it tolerable, others would not. Check and make sure you're getting the view you want, not all of them face the strip/fountains. Cosmo has multiple outstanding restaurants and bars, great mixologists, fun casino, great slot selection. Wicked Spoon is one of the best buffets on the strip. I like Planet Hollywood ok, but I enjoy Cosmo a lot more. Only thing PH has that Cosmo doesn't is the dancers in the pleasure pit, but the craft cocktails at Chandelier bar more than compensate!

Elara is more relaxing. If you want the ability to have a little break from the strip, then Elara would be my choice and even just the sofa without pulling out the sofa bed is pretty comfortable. The full kitchen is nice for doing leftovers and picking up soda etc at Walgreens. It's connected to Planet Hollywood through the mall, not even a 5 min walk. Room service is available (I've never used it), but there is no restaurant in the hotel and the pool (its only about 3 or 4 ft deep, but cabana rentals are quite reasonable, definitely not a party pool) and bar are acceptable, but not great. If I want a laid-back trip and don't want to deal with the chance of spoiled twentysomthings throwing up on me (I'm late 50s), roving bands of bachelor/bachelorette parties, drunks at the pool, etc., I go to Elara.

So, I don't know what your husband is looking for, but if you want the "Vegas experience", I'd do Cosmo for his first trip.

    Wrap-a-round suite at Cosmo.
First, location. Cosmo is well situated, close to the strip.
If you get Bellagio fountain view - one of the best views in the world.
If you are going when hot, there is nothing better than sitting on the Balcony at 2am, with a nice drink and a nice lady :)
Cosmo is just better organized -restaurants on 2nd and 3rd floors - all easily accessible.
Also they have EGGSLUT...the best breakfast sandwich.
Cosmo has underground parking, easy access from either tower.
Cosmo is a bridge walk away from a Walgreens and PH.

My vote is for Elara....Joking. Cosmo in a easy win.

Let's not forget when figuring out is the pricing is the same. If your driving parking at Cosmo vs parking for free at elara.
Casino and noise vs getting away from the hustle when u sleep.
Cosmo right out door on strip vs walking thru mall.
And resort fee. Non at elara.
For that reason alone I stay at elara more often then Cosmo.
Depends what your needs are really both are great

I see this comment often but do not get it. We find our hotel room never has casino noise or hustle. Granted, the lobby sure is different at places like Elara and Vdara.

Meanwhile... wondering why the OP did not include PH in the options? Pricewise, you can probably get your brother his own room for less money than the suite at Cosmo. If it is your hubby's first Vegas trip... any hotel will be great!
