I always tip when I win a pot. If there is a chip runner, and I have $1 chips, I'll tip the runner. But sometimes they're off too quickly. In a poker Youtube video, by Andrew Neeme, I could've sworn he tipped when cashing out. He is a 2/5 to 5/10 pro, so maybe it's part of the cost of doing business as a pro in Vegas. But I've never thought about tipping the cashier. Does anyone else tip the cage?
I don't know about the poker room, but I always drop a dollar at the cage after cashing in from the tables. Based on their reaction I guess it doesn't happen very often, but I know they pool their tips and always are appreciative. When I think of all the dollars I give to bartenders and CWs and dealer bets that are barely acknowledged this one is a no brainer.
If I clock a winning session at whatever stakes I'll typically leave one to tip the cage on the way out.
If I've had a winning session, I usually tip the cage, especially if I have a few singles when cashing. If you've ever worked in the service industry, I think you're more apt to tip.
I always tip the cage when they are giving me money from my wired funds. There is some paper work involved and they seem to appreciate it.
If I have an odd single I'll do it sometimes. And like FullPay and others say it's noticeably appreciated.

I'm sick of tipping. I tip hundreds of dollars in a week long trip. I think this trip, I will only tip on meals, and save a ton.

Might be a stupid question, but is there a difference between the poker room cashier cage and the casino cashier cage? I don't play poker and have never tipped the casino cashier. I don't know why but I thought they were like the security personnel and we couldn't tip them. I don't mind if it's ok to tip the cashier at the cage.
I don't drink. I'm talking about tipping the dealers every other play like a drunken sailor. I way overtip, and I need to stop. I think I would shit if I ever kept track of those tokes.
I as well did not know that tipping was allowed with cage personnel. I guess that for extremely friendly or helpful cashiers I will tip in the future. Everyday should be a learning experience and this was one for me.
Well, that seriously changes the equation. If I didn't drink: I would have way fewer opportunities to tip; I would be able to keep track of my tipping; I would have a lot more money; I would spend a lot less time in Vegas. So it looks like I have a tipping problem.
Not much, it's a casino cage physically located inside the poker room. Staffed by the same rotation of cashiers who work in the other cage locations on the casino floor throughout the day. Since it's in the poker room the cashiers in this particular cage are used to exchanging for chips in trays. That may be the only notable difference.

Others may know specific poker rooms with cages. I recently played at GN, Encore with no PR cage Like TRN said, some casinos have a cage either in or near the PR & they are used to racking chips for the players. We have two cages at one of my locals. One is near the PR + table games, but not in it.
