I am going to stay at the El Cortez and take advantage of my offer which gives me "5X points on the day of your choice".

Does anyone know how this works exactly?

    1) How do I choose the day? At the Player's Club after I check into the hotel?

    2) How is a "day" defined? Is it 24 hours from when I choose the day? Or is the day fixed (i.e. expires at midnight or 3am or something)? I ask this so that I can obviously take advantage of the best 24 hour possible, due to check-in/check-out I will have less time to play on those days than the days in between.

    3) Unrelated, but does El Cortez use an ADT system or Trip Theoretical system for comping? If using ADT system then I'll avoid playing on check-in and check-out days...

    Thanks in advance!

For #1, I have gone to the slot club prior to the day I wanted the 5X points and requested it.

El Cor used to put out a paper mailer with those offers but they were always available at the player's club. Just go there and ask if you have any offers available. They will ask which day of the week you want the 5 times offer. Don't know if it's midnight to midnight or something else.

If you use their ATM they will give you a one time rebate of five percent in free play up to fifty dollars ($1000 withdrawal). Make your withdrawal, take the receipt and the bank card to the cage, they will give you a voucher to take to the player's club.

Yeah, wish they would put the details in the fine print... It makes a big difference whether it's midnight to midnight or something else!

Cool, I'll have to see if they still have this deal.

I was a El Cortez a few weeks ago and was told by the club card boothling that the 5X points day ends at midnight of the day of your choice.

Is that all they're giving you, the 5 times? You should get at least a room as well(perhaps with a play requirement), plus some food.. But to answer your question, you go to the players desk and say" i have an offer for 5 times pt's", they'll say, "ok, do you want it today", you say yes, and off you go. And i believe the day ends at midnight. I think 500 pts equals a buck, so if you play say 2K , you would get 10,000 pts which would equal $20 in comps/free play, that's not bad.

ElCo's comps baffle me. We go there once during each of our April & October trips. We receive mailers good for a three month spread. It is for a three night comped stay, $25 dining credit (have to be hotel guest to use), $25 FP and 5x points on day of our choice. In addition, I receive a special Happy Birthday mailer for $50 FP during my birthday month (April). This seems to be generous for the amount of time we play there. I'm not complaining, mind you, but do wonder why.

I get the same deal, as to why they offer it for so little play, I would imagine they want you to stay there, and expect if you did, you would play far more. If you stayed there and played only a little, I would imagine the offer would drop, perhaps not. I take it and appreciate it.

I too am confused about El Co's comps. By way of example, I received an email for "special" room rates, $50 food credit, and 5 times points for a day -- and two corresponding promo codes (One for Tower Rooms and one for a Cabana room). When I went on line and plugged in the promo code, I got some 50% off the regular on line rate- so I interpreted it as casino rate rooms. But immediate afterwards, when I called on the phone, I was told that the rooms were comped under my promo codes. Of course I went the comp route. I am not sure why I appear to be casino rate on the computer, but comped on the phone.

It says in the mailer that the rooms will appear to be casino rate when booking, but will show up as comp when checking in, it's not an issue.

I always have to get my card renewed at the start of the trip, so I always figure which day is going to be my heavy play day before I go, and tell them which day I want my 5x points.

The 5x points runs from midnight to midnight. And I don't know whether it is necessary, but if I am playing late the night before, I will pull my card out a few minutes before midnight, have a few sips of beer, then start again a few minutes after midnight.
