Not a Vegas first timer, but rather, a show first timer. We've never been to any Las Vegas shows and would like to at least see something for the upcoming trip we have in June. We are in our late 30's (*gasp* *almost 40*) if that helps. Wife and I tend to get bored easily.....so something that isn't boring would be nice.

Brad Garrett's Comedy Club is great ($47, MGM), never laughed so hard before, plus the service and drinks are great. Best to go when Brad Garrett himself is appearing, did not expect him to be so funny. I was never a fan of Everybody Loves Raymond.

Carrot Top ($50, Luxor) was funny as well, didn't think I'd be a fan of prop comedy. These are both smaller and more intimate shows which makes the comedy better in my opinion. Both are relatively cheaper and keep you entertained - I tend to get bored at most of the Cirque Shows ($80-100+).

The MJ and Beatles Cirque shows (~$80, ? and Mirage) are the only ones I'd see twice.

Blue Man Group is fun but not exactly unique to Vegas ($90, Luxor) [50% off at tix4tonight?]

Penn and Teller (Rio) are funny and the magic is impressive. Despite being the family friendly option, they are a quality act.

I'll be back again soon with a first-timer and plan on going to a few of these a second time.

Mid 30's couple here as well. We've seen Zarkana, Love, Ka, Zumanity, Criss Angel Mindfreak, Terry Fator, and some random comedy and hypnosis shows. By far, hands down, our favorite was Zarkana. Love was 2nd. The one we hated and got bored at? Ka. We actually left early.

Also wanted to mention, while neither of us are really Beatles fans we both enjoyed Love. It was a fun show for sure.

The Cirque du Soleil shows are a big part of what made me fall in love with Las Vegas. O and Beatles Love are the best ones I've seen so far. Ka was also magnificent. I've heard good things about Michael Jackson One as well.

I'm not the show type either, but went to Love with my wife a few years ago after getting the tickets discounted via MyVegas. She loved it, but it wasn't for me. The next year we splurged and saw Absinthe. I loved it. It wasn't so much a cohesive production as it was a bunch of individual acts glued together by the circus format. I thought the Gazillionaire host was hilarious.

This is pretty wide open. If you aren't politically correct or a prude go see Absinthe, GREAT show. For something a little less raunchy (and less funny), Zarkana at NYNY. Carrot Top is hilarious. Don't dismiss him because he's a "prop comic". You'll be laughing. I'm a Beatles fan but thought Love was overrated but most like it so I'm out of the norm there. Brad Garrett's comedy club when he's performing. Another one where you can't be prudish. Penn & Teller is a good, affordable show. Terry Fator is unique and fun. Vegas the Show is sort of an "old time" Vegas show, I thought it was good. V Variety show is pretty good too.

Absinthe. You might be offended, but you definitely will not be bored

Not to hijack this thread...but as a solo traveler, would it be awkward to be alone to go to see anyone at Brad Garrett's Comedy Club?

La Reve at Wynn. My wife and I had already seen three Cirque shows and this one blew us away. (It's not technically a Cirque show, but you wouldn't know by watching.)

My BIG tip is that all ticket sales for Vegas shows began 90 days prior to the show. Maybe sixty, but I think ninety. Anyway, those front row seats aren't squirreled away for high rollers, they are available first come first served. So call the box office and ask which day the tickets for your desired date go on sale. I scored front row at O and Penn and Teller. I declined the front row at Blue Man Group. All excellent shows, by the way.

I have done that and it wasn't awkward. The tables are small and close together. So it will appear as though you are there with other people, even if you are not

    Agree.
I've seen all Cirque (and the like) shows in Vegas (in the past 10 years). La Reve is on top.
Love is overrated by some people in my opinion.
Fortunately CDS and MGM Resorts didn't overrate it, it's cheaper than "O" for good reason.

    We're in our mid / late thirties (35 / 37)

    We've seen:
Beatles Love (3 times) - probably our favorite (probably seeing it again this year). I've always felt like Love was the most cohesive show we've seen. A lot of the shows are various skits stitched together that don't really have anything to do with each other; Love to me is like a story. Theres a start and an end; it's like watching a movie IMO. Even if your not a fan of the music, it's a very well put together show.
Michael Jackson - we weren't familiar with some of the songs, but like Love, a damn good show.
O - meh... didn't really understand the hype. Not a bad show by any means, but... meh.
Le Reve - better then O IMO (probably seeing it again this year)
Crazy Horse at MGM - this was actually pretty good and the wife who is very conservative really liked it (burlesque show)
    Zarkana - good

I really want to see The Beegees show this year. Hoping Elton John adds another week to his schedule (we couldn't go the week he's playing at Caesars) - If Elton John falls through, she wants to see Celine Dion. Ie: we want to try to catch a traditional LV entertainer show.

Have seen five of the Cirque shows and enjoyed "O" and "Love" the most.

Mat Franco at the Linq. He's a magician that won America's Got Talent a few years ago. Great show.

Seriously outdated advice by about fifteen years. Computers are better, casinos are greedier, mo ticket mo cash.

    We've seen:

Love (loved it) - free. I grew up listening to "Oldies" because my dad is old and that was his generation of music, so I enjoyed it. Not really a bad seat in the theater.

Australian Bee Gees (free, and worth that, but we're in your age range and unless you grew up listening to them - thanks dad - and don't mind hanging around people old enough to be your grandmother, then I say it's not horrible)

Raiding the Rock Vault - got a great deal on Groupon and it was fantastic.

Zumanity - not for the prudish, but we loved most of it. Great for couples. We laughed a lot.

Tournament of Kings - again free. It's cheesy and predictable, but I'll do anything (within reason) once. We had my parents and my child with us this trip, and it's definitely good for families.

The ones we saw that were free were all using MyVEGAS rewards and I don't think we would have gone to see them otherwise, but I have no real complaints about any of them

I would suggest Absinthe. Some pretty cool acts/stunts with some entertaining, raunchy comedy in between. I would (and likely will) see it again.

So many great shows, musically if Celine is in town a great show. As far as a cirque show we are big time "Love" fans, as my wife and myself are huge Beatles fans. Absinthe would be a fun show also. So many really great shows, we would say Ka bar far is the worse show we have seen in Vegas.............Rick
