Bubble Craps???

Until yesterday I had never heard of bubble craps. I saw something about it in a post. What is it? How does it compare to the real thing? What kind of limits/minimums are there? Where can I find it? Any chance they might have it at Encore? (I'm guessing not.)

Bubble craps is an electronic version but two big dice are a big bubble in the center (think of the board game trouble) - one person is the shooter, which involves pushing their button to make the floor bounce the two dice up (I presume it is legitimately random versus some time of electronically determined outcome).

I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago and feel like it was in every mlife casino I went in - played at MGM for a bit - $5min pass/don't. $1 min on the prop bets. Honestly not sure what odds were.

I've only played real craps a handful of times, but I thought this was fine, and I did alright on it too so that was good.

 

I've played it a bunch of times. It doesn't feel authentic. I feel like some kind of random number generator is involved. I guess it could be a fun way to meet people, but I prefer a real dice table rather than messing around with a machine.

 

This is a picture of the bubble craps machine in the Linq. The minimums vary per property starting with $1 and going up to $5. I always seemed to do well playing the Don't on the bubble crap

for beginners, a live craps table can be very intimidating. the bubble craps is a great way to learn the game. but sooner or later you must play the live game, it is great. the bubble craps at the 4Q is often full. next time I play, I will try the don't.

 

I like playing at TR properties, Harrah's or Linq since they have low minimums on bubble craps. I mostly hit the tables now and switch to bubble craps only when I am not doing too well. The craps machine provided a great way of learning the various bets as a newbie.

 

Its pretty much just an automated game of craps: there are betting terminals that make a ring around a pair of giant dice in a bubble.

To play you sit at one of the betting terminals, insert your money or TITO ticket and place your bets. At most places the minimum bet is $5, though you might find $2 at some of the cheaper places.

For odds some have said MGM Grand does 3x odds, otherwise expect 2x, and just about every prop bet is available though you only have so much time to place your bets so it helps if you familiarize yourself with the machine so if you have to page through all the bets you can find what you are looking for if you want something specific (all the normal prop bets are on the main page of the betting terminal, I'm talking about a bunch of extra ones).

When its time to play betting will be stopped on the terminals and whoever is the shooter will have their screen light up and this "push the button" voice starts yelling at them to push the button and "throw" the dice.


Personally, I enjoy playing on it and have had a good experience each time (not saying won, but as far as having fun, talking to other players, etc). I like that I can just sit down, don't have to think too much and can just repeat my bet with a push of a button.

Because it is electronic and two colluding players could make offsetting wagers (IE: husband bets pass, wife bets don't pass) none of them track slot club points though they will usually have a spot for you to insert your card.

 

Sounds like fun with lower minimums than at a live table. I love the live game but don't like playing higher limits. Will give it a try in May. Thanks all!

 

To each their own but I would never play this game. If you enjoy craps then play craps, the felt, real dice, the excitement. Sitting down watching fake dice "roll"? No thanks. If you're new to craps and feel "intimidated" just go to a real table and play the pass line while you soak it all in.

 

I play bubble craps for a couple reasons:

1) Sometimes I find the machine completely empty so I can sit down, have a cigar and play some craps without bothering anyone. I've had more luck getting drinks while sitting at these machines than the VP machines or slot machines (maybe because it's more open, easier to see if someone is there).
2) $5 minimums, even in the more expensive casinos. It's a way to play craps without laying $300+ on the table for a $10 min real craps table (sometimes the only thing available is $15+ min).

I still think a real craps table is much more fun and interesting but I appreciate the bubble craps machines and generally end up playing them at some point during my trip.

 

The lower minimums is really what is appealing to me. I won't play a $15 table.

 

The low minimums is the only reason I ever sat at a bubble craps machine. Other than sheer novelty a bubble craps machine is corny compared to a real dice table.

 

Having to play something like this so you can play $5 is just another reason not to gamble on the strip. Plenty of $5 craps (real craps) in Vegas. I appreciate Chuck keeping his cigar away from the tables

 

It's been years since these machines first appeared ---
I thought I remember it was DEFINITELY = RNG.
which is why I never play these.
So, it's a "slot machine" ...........which means House Edge increased -
versus a real crap table where House Edge is lower..

 

You just confirmed my suspicions. How can you play dice with a RNG? Just a bunch of BS.

 

I don't see how it can be controlled with a RNG... there are physical dice that go bumping up into the air when you "Push the Button - C'Mon!".
I've seen long runs & PSOs on bubble-craps...just as one would at a real table.
No - I'm certain that it's just as random as a real table... the only thing that they could jimmy with would be the payouts...but I think those are the same as most tables... If I recall correctly, I think they only pay double on field-bet 12s, but then, a lot of real tables have gone that way as well.

This is the true rake - they do some a few items that pay a little dinkier. Only 2x odds lots of places, buying the 4 and 10 holds double what it does on most tables, etc.

In terms of the RNG I believe what it does is change how it launches the dice to create different, random outcomes based upon the time at which the button is pushed.
