Booked my MSS offer through host on duty (I have no host assigned) to try to switch it to Cal. Ipo gave approval(and added an extra free night =5 nights) and said will submit it to Ambassador. Got approved with email next day (see below). Now on the room description it says Suite King. Will that be a real suite or just a generic term for the King rooms? I am middle sapphire and get $225 FP. Also, got mailer next day and said $100 food credit, which was not on bconnected site. Find it weird how they put in room rate to equal 5 days. No, I'm am not Hawaiian.

I suspect you are actually going to get a suite.

You might want to edit out a few of those details? Like reservation number?

    Nice score.

Suite king is probably a newly renovated (suite) room in the west tower. Does Hawaiian package mean you'll be getting the Aloha meal coupons as well? Looks very nice.

Gave me $100 food credit. Don't think I will also get the food book. Usually got the book and no food credit til this time. Rather have the $100 for one big meal at Redwood, plus have about $200 worth of food points already to use for 40% off. And will be using bogos. But got $225fp instead of $75 this time. Doesn't matter if not suite, but would be nice to use it once.

Eaglejohn I believe you will get the 2 Aloha meal coupon books in addition to the $100 food credit. My family friend (mid to high level sapphire) had the same comp as you 5 suite nights (13th or 14th floor newly remodeled suite West tower, I can't seem to recall which floor exactly), $225 in free play, $100 in dining, and received 2 Aloha meal coupon books upon check-in and gave me 1 Aloha meal coupon book to use. The only difference is she is from Hawaii.

As a low level sapphire myself these are the best room rates I can get at the Cal. BTW if I got your offers I think I would wet my pants (lol).

Not to side track this thread but when I ate at the Cal Market Street café March 1 thru March 5, I recall seeing the tall black guy who was the cook at the now shuddered Cal Club snack bar cooking in the Cal Market Street café kitchen. I was happy to see he is still at the Cal as opposed to getting laid off.

Some trivia from years past. Does anyone remember seeing the albino waiter guy who used to work behind the counter at the Cal's Market Street café. He has been gone for years now but sometimes I wonder where he is employed now. Or what about the Cal's change ladies who used to push around the change carts filled with coins and dollars.

I am a Ruby who booked in December and got Mon 4-24 for four nights at $36 a night. Never had a Boyd comp, but the wife and I are hoping to do some damage and make Main Street Station and California our new homes. Downtown Grand had their chance. Even with a perfect stay, they've tinkered with their comp formula (see the Downtown Grand thread) so much that my level of play won't come close to qualifying.

With the recent significant tightening of offers at Boyd casinos that many have been reporting, you might find that the Downtown Grand offers are just as "generous" as the Boyd offers you will be receiving, if any.

That may be true, but MSS / Cal's Ruby rates (for now) destroy DTG's rack rates. They keep weekdays under $50 for awhile, then I'll worry about it on the back end!

OMG! That voice over is awful. I really expected the voice to tell me in 200ft, turn left! Don't ya think they could have afforded a real person to narrate this promo(rhetorical)? I do think that it was pretty in depth though. Thanks eaglejohn!

    FYI when booking casino rates;

Deluxe means east tower (i.e., $43)

Premium means west tower (renovated $55)

So it'll cost you $12 more for the snazzy room.

Damn, you gotta be kidding me. Oh well, I was going to call and ask for a west tower room for my stay 2 weeks from now so we'll see if I get it or not. Actually I hate the east tower because I don't like their bathrooms. The only 2 rooms in the east tower I like are the ones right near the elevator (faces the elevator). Those are "suite" types but my BIL and sister got one once (without paying premium).:soapbox:

When I checked in I asked for West tower and the woman said it is $12 extra so I declined and took East tower.

if it is $12 extra per night that is BS. it may be worth trying the $20 trick.
