    My Trip Report

I've been addicted to the VMB for about 30 days, looking forward to this trip. I'm excited I am in the 24 hour window to start my trip report! Normally my trips are last minute affairs, rarely planning more than 3 weeks in advance, but this is a different story. I am meeting my best friend who I have known for 38 years. We met in 1st grade and have stayed close ever since. He moved to the northern country about 20 years ago so I don't get to see him but a couple times a year. We will call him Friend. Friend is not a big gambler and he has been in Vegas since Monday on a work trip. He tacked on 3 extra days and away we go.

The main draw for this trip, in addition to hanging out with him is MM. I have never been to Vegas during MM and we were able to get passes to the Mandalay Bay Watch Party. I have been told there will be bikinis involved. Since Friend is not much of a gambler, I have been taking notes from VMB on fun things to do. I bought a ACG, cashed in some MyVegas Awards for Tender and Carnage Deli. They really do need to change the name of Tender. Anyway, I want to mix it up a bit instead of 100% gamble.

I also learned today that two other folks I know are going to be in Vegas this weekend. They roll a lot bigger than I do, so that will be fun to watch.

I'm going to try to keep up with this report a few times a day. Let's hope for the best. Good luck to all of y'all coming in for MM. Plane is about to board. Here we go!

Update: 16 minutes until touchdown. I love airplane wifi. Great flight. Even though my row was full, my seat mates were cool. A dad and his 11 year old daughter. Friendly conversation but not too much. Between sleeping and chatting, I forgot about my obligatory mini crowns. I took them out in 25 minutes though. Things are about to get fuzzy.

My first night I am staying at Paris so I can get my $225 in freeplay. I didn't expect much from Paris, but I am pleasantly surprised. The room has a great view of the Eiffel Tower and more importantly the fountains. Best view I've ever had in Vegas. The room is ordinary but comfortable and clean. The bathtub is an absolute joke, with a 12" depth.

Of course I'm not here for the room, I'm here for Vegas. Which means food and craps. We ate at the noodle place. Half dim sum half noodles n stuff. I was exhausted and starving, so I may not be a good judge. I thought it was great. The craps table started strong, went to choppy and then turned hot. I pressed my 6 several times until it got to $120 then it hit. Twice. The seven hurt, but it was worth it. I pleased that I walked at the high point I ran into some folks that stayed at the table after I left. They said it turned cold.

A damn good finish to the first night. I'm up $950. I must confess, I ran the free play through the high limit slots and turned $225 into $5. Pictures of the view to come.

I went back down to the craps table about 3:30. I'm posting on VMB at 4:00. That should tell you a little something.

I did get quite the forward offer from a lovely young lady on the way back to the room. I politely declined. There was also a drunken Irish lass in the elevator area of the casino. She was just trying to get to her room. I was torn between risking looking like some asshat trying to take advantage of the situation and helping her get safely to her room. I got her safely to her floor and left the rest up to her. Seemed like a good balance.

So I might have fallen off the face of the earth a little bit, but I'm alive and doing well, having ALMOST recovered from Vegas. We checked out of Paris Hotel Thursday morning, went to breakfast at MAG and ordered eggs Benedict. They were outstanding. Also ordered a side of bacon that came out a bit too crispy (read burnt). Fortunately they were quite gracious when I sent it back. The replacement bacon was excellent, but hey it was bacon, so it is usually great! I remembered a picture of the Eggs Benedict.

IMG_6670.JPG IMG_6673.JPG After MAG we wondered over to PH in quest of Credits. I think I lost $500 in craps before the floorman knew I was there but managed to get my 25 tier points some how. The original plan was to hit up 1/2 the total rewards casino Wednesday night and 1/2 Thursday morning to get all 9 badges, but I fell short of the goal by 7 badges. I was exhausted on Wednesday night and eager to get to the basketball games on Thursday morning, so a measly 2. I guess I should return for the rest of them.

We retrieved our luggage and took a cab to Mandalay Bay. There was no line and our room was available, so clear sailing. The $20 trick didn't work, but we had several waters and a lovely cheese plate in our room from my host. I will call that a win. Once settled in, we went to the sports book and set up my mobile betting app. It worked but had its glitches.

Next stop was the host area where they had our wrist bands for Hoops Island. Basically, they roped off a section of their center bar, Eye Candy, set up some TVs, beer pong, mediocre (but free) food and lots of beer and liquor. It was nice to have a place to retreat and watch some BB.

Next stop was MGM Grand to meet a friend of mine who gambles at a different Stratosphere than I do. He had seats in the balcony above the sports book bar. Eye level to the large TVs, very comfy recliners and free booze. They did not, however, have mediocre food or any food for that matter.

The friend we met at MGM offered to take us to lunch, so we winded our way through the casino through a wrought iron gate past what appeared to be very high limit table games. Before I knew it, we were in the Mansion's restaurant eating fish that was alive when we ordered it and an impressive assortment of dim sum items. It really was an exceptional meal, to say the least. Here are photos of the cooked fish and his brother that survived the lunch order.
