    More bad news.

Boyd has eliminated the "Play Your Way to Vegas" for renewing Sapphire status gift.

It used to be 3 free anytime nights at any of the 7 Boyd casinos in LV valid during the 3 month period following your renewal date.

Now, it's NOTHING. This promotion doesn't exist any longer.

Renewals through January 31 got their "Play Your Way to Vegas" gift as described above.

Renewals through February 28 got NOTHING.

Cue the Willie Wonka clip now please. YOU GET NOTHING!

On bconnected.com, a gift for renewal is still listed on their benefits under the Sapphire column.

So, if you were planning on receiving and using these again this year - you are out of luck.

I wanted to get this news out as quickly as possible so that other's aren't planning to use these going forward.

    Thoughts?

I never even knew they offered this, I made Sapphire for the first time in September. I doubt I will be renewing. They immediately cut my room offers . They had stopped Young at Heart (since restarted) and with the slashing room offers I only booked one night for my May trip. I doubt I will be renewing it. Sad I finally make a tier and they downgrade everything.

I got it the last 2 years. Being on the East Coast it didn't do me any good as I qualified on my December trip. No way I can go back that soon.

I made Emerald in early February and when I asked the player's club attendant about the tier promotion gift, she said it would come in the mail. Still haven't seen anything so maybe they cut that too.

I've been emailing with my home casino. They ran it up the ladder to direct marketing. No go.

I just wanted to put the word out in case anyone was counting on using this former promotion. Like we were going to. Airfare locked in so no opportunity to change it.

Now we have to pay for rooms for those nights that we were planning on having comped. Might still be comped on the back end but I like knowing it's comped up front.

    Huh?

I made sapphire in 1/2016 and all I received was a $10 certificate to use in the gift shop. My sapphire was expiring 1/2017, but I got enough points (in January) to get it bumped up to 1/2018. This time I received nothing. :(

Seems like the bean counters have taken over at Boyd as well. While I will likely still take advantage of a free stay at the Orleans (if that doesn't dry up as well) from time to time, I will not invest the time and money it takes to reach a higher tier level as the benefits are basically nil.

Yup, I've already qualified as Sapphire for the upcoming year, but with this change I'm definitely not going to bother going for Sapphire again the next year after. :(

The main reason I wanted Sapphire is the bonus points and the rare line cut. As long as that's in place, I will try and keep it but that's also coming from someone who could take advantage of the Blue Chip point structure.

Seems like Boyd group is disappointing a lot of people lately including me. Just became sapphire last year and I don't see any difference from ruby. CET Is the way to go!

Where can the line cut be used?

Downtown the line cuts only are good of you are Emerald. And this is the ONLY benefit of being Emerald. Oh yeah, you get 3x points unless you are like me and only play favorable VP that does not qualify for bonus points at all. Supposedly Emeralds get free room upgrades (if available). I have stayed (comped) 5 times since being Emerald and once was actually downgraded from a deluxe king to a single queen. I think room upgrades are controlled by the hosts. At this point they should just have a single tier and call it a day.

With Sapphire Tier level, do you not earn regular free room comps? Or is the key the 'anytime' that might get you a room that is not comped normally (weekend, holiday, etc). I'm just used to getting something 7 days a week at CET, and haven't played at Boyd in a few years - but I know I used to get free room offers at Orleans at lowest level.

    Easter again..:
