Staying at the Linq and in the early morning around 5-8ish the local "bums" stroll through a lot when the security isn't as heavy. I'm usually around TAG while waiting on Mrs Salty to get up and around. This past trip seemed to be the worst for people coming up to me asking for change, a cigarette, or just wanna look over my shoulder while I play. Most of the time they offer to buy a cigarette with pocket change. I don't sell them one though, and they get pissed. One of the security guards told me that they wished now they put front entrance doors in the place to stop a lot of that. One of the early morning waitresses told me to just yell anyways & somebody would be there very quickly. How do yall deal with them?

And how aboyt the Timeshare folks? Do yall talk to them? I tell them no and a lot of them keep on trying and walking with us until I have to get really rude with them. Apparently they target couples usually. Hardly ever had that problem going there solo or with friends.

I've never had any issues with aggressive bums but yeah, those timeshare people...! I travel with my wife and I guess I don't look broke so they target us at every property we go into. Instead of ignoring them I just say I'm catching a flight in 3 hours and that seems to work.

I've never had a problem with the homeless. No don't even get me started on timeshare assholes. They've bothered me once while I was playing a slot. I had to tell them to fuck off. They're the worst followed by the CD guys.

I have been known to hand out a few cigarettes or a few bucks, but only if they aren't aggressive. I think the lotion people downtown are the most obnoxious

    I say "Sorry" and turn/walk away. You'd think I was Canadian. :wink2:

Timeshare people usually don't hassle me as I don't travel with my spouse. And if they do, I just say "Nope. I'm broke!"

I don't frequent joints where the bums hangout. Easy peasy.

Panhandlers don't really seem to hit on me that much. On this last trip the only place I remember being confronted by one (just shook my head and got in the car) was at the Wino Walgreens at Flamingo and Maryland.

If they stand there and stay for a while it kinda bothers me. If I sense someone behind me I'll turn and glance at them and most of the time they will move on. (LOL, it's probably because I look much younger from the rear!) :) If they keep on watching I'll turn around and "Yes?" and usually they will mumble something and then move on. What REALLY bothers me are the creeps who call you by name after reading it on the slot card screen! :(

Don't get me started! Usually they will not hit on solo women but the last two times I've stayed at the Westgate they were doing just that. This last trip they seemed to eventually remember you and remember you stated (very assertively) that you were not interested and eventually left you alone.

My brother and I (we could easily pass for a "couple") used to play games with them and try to get them to "tilt" or "blue screen" but we stopped it after one broke character and stated that he was just doing his job.

A few of the conversations, and the looks they gave us, were priceless!

Dweeb: Hi, where you folks from?
    Me: Omaha.
    Bro: Santa Monica.
Dweeb: Oh sorry, I thought you were together.
Me: We are, we just met last night.
    Dweeb: {WTF expression!} :)

    or this one ...

    Dweeb: Merry Christmas.
    Me: Happy Hanukkah!
    Dweeb: Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know.
Me: Yeah, I know we don't look it.
    Dweeb: {totally mind{f-bomb}ed awkward expression}

What got us to stop playing with them was late one night at NYNY (first time I had seen one there) and he was obviously about to go off shift and very exhausted.

He approached us and I gave him what I thought was an obvious push-off wave, left palm facing forward. He kept approaching and I gave him the "X" arms crossed sign and he kept approaching. He kept approaching and was about to speak when my brother very assertively said "Don't even {f-bomb}ing think of it!" and he replied "Hey, guys, I'm just trying to do my job, ok?" or something like that.

    Oh well ...

I agree, just ignore them and hopefully they will go away. If they don't then stop playing, turn around and just stare at them until they walk away. If they don't walk away then yell out "SECURITY!!" and that should do the trick.

As for Timeshare people, when walking nearby you should separate from your spouse. As others have mentioned they will mostly ignore singles. If the do try to hit on you just say "no thanks" and walk away quickly and ignore anything they say - this is important because some will try to say anything to get you to stop. With couples the timeshare people will try to get you to stop and converse with you (even if you try to ignore them) so best to separate and look solo and ignore them. I never had a problem with Timeshare people and the porn slappers outside and don't know why some people have a hard time with them, guess they are too polite and can't tell them to F off.

I have never had a problem with "bums". Maybe that's where your problem is, you think of them as "bums". Maybe you should think of them as "homeless".
The homeless do not bother me at home or in Vegas. First of all, do not be intimidated, do not let them sense your fear. just look like you do not want to be bothered and keep walking.
That is the key--just keep walking. Same thing with timeshare people.

When they are coming up to me while I'm in a casino and asking for a cigarette or etc, they are bums.

What's so hard about saying, "No thank you. We're not interested"?

What makes you think they are homeless? I seriously doubt they are all homeless. Plus, why should anyone give a shit about them? This is the life they chose. Bumdom.

What's the difference what we call them? It's six of one, half dozen of another.

We were bothered once playing slots in Margaritaville. A man came in the open door right behind us and asked if we could "help a veteran get something to eat". Who knows if he was even a veteran? We were annoyed but gave him a dollar. Shouldn't have to be pestered....

Funny this topic should come up. My last trip ( March 3-6) was when I really noticed them in the casino. Mostly early mornings, as I was up and downtairs before 7am. I had hardly ever been approached while playing slots before this past trip. This time, each morning, I would have a couple of guys asking for money or cigarettes while i was playing. As I had said, early Saturday and Sunday morning, and I was in NYNY instead of Aria or Bellagio. Not sure if location makes a difference... Funny how it has gone from ladies of the night approaching me early morning, to pan-handlers.
