I always see people posting saying how time is too valuable on their "vacation" in Vegas...
To me, I've never thought about Vegas as a "vacation" but more an entertainment destination that's a 24/7 party.
    How do you view it?
I just can't see it being all that "relaxing" to define as a "vacation"

We are definitely on vacation .....since do not drive in LV....we are full-tilt on drinking as much as possible, gambling our a$$ off & enjoying as much as can squeeze into 6 days!

So, your definition of vacation, is relaxation? I think most people's definition is "getting away". I can relax on my couch, and have a party in my living room.

Since i dont take long vacations, 4-5 2 day vegas trips a year is my "vacation."

Getting away from work and kids, i want to relax during the day and party at nighy so its a mixture of both.

I think it can be both. I have my fair share of party time in Vegas. I also enjoy relaxing. I sleep in. Lounge by the pool. Escape the day-to-day madness and leave my worries at home.

Same - little of both - "vacation" 8am (pools open) till about 1 or 2pm - then, "party" where ever the night takes us, be it dinner or show or bar or night club or just taking a walk and seeing / trying new things

We are both retired. When I tell friends we are going on vacation, the usual reply is vacation from what? For us it's the opposite. We relax at home, but when we are on "vacation", it is usually full tilt morning to night and then come home and relax. Phoenix on Friday, Vegas mid-April, Seattle in July and Vegas again in Sept.

Vegas is considered "getting away" from my normal three times a year.

Cruising is considered my vacation once a year.

So I'm guessing in the context of this thread 'party' means to get blind drunk, or close to it with very little sleep. 'Vacation' is the stereotypical relaxing getaway. I guess in my nearly 20 years of going to Vegas the trips started out as 'party' and are morphing towards 'vacation' - just part of aging I guess!

I always seem to say, "I need a vacation after that vacation!"

+1 And maybe add lose control, perhaps gamble beyond your means or comfort zone.

These definitions are too confining. We can relax at home, have fun at home, and being on the road can be quite hectic. This really comes back to the basic question asked over and over here, "Why do you go to Vegas or ______?"

I'm the same way. In Vegas I drink non stop with little sleep for 3-4 days, and when I get home I am completely exhausted. I always make sure to have another 3-4 days off when I get home so I can finish off my vacation by being lazy.

Vacation. I'm getting away, I'm in my happy place, to me that's relaxing.

Drink and gamble for 4-5 days straight, fun but not exactly relaxing which is what I consider a vacation

    Am I at work? Nope. So it's a vacation/free time/relaxing.

    Tomato/tomahto

Some trips are non stop booze fests and feeling like a degen. Other trips are dialed back a bit. All the same to me.

Everybody is different. Some will go to relax because they can always party at home. Some will go to party, because they can always relax at home.

Me? I go to see if I can get lucky and be on a hot craps table with a shooter that rolls for 10 hours.

both for me. relax time is to lay in the sun for 90 minutes or so. sitting at a pai-gow table for 1-2 hours is relaxing as well. vegas has plenty to offer, no matter what you crave.
