Just finished Season 7. I LOVE this show! IMHO, I think William H. Macy as Frank Gallagher is an amazing performance. Frank is just a despicable human being and you just want to kick him in the head sometimes, but he is absolutely true to his own convictions. His political and state of the world rants against society are priceless.

The Gallagher's as a group are a pack of immoral, law breaking, backstabbers, screwing anybody they can get their hands on, both literally and figuratively. Chicago South Side white trash. But somehow, their stories are just people struggling to make it in a world that just doesn't give a damn about them.

The show manages to be heartbreaking, joyful, uplifting and shake your head "what disaster happens next", that manages to pull out it's belly laugh moments.

Warning: If you haven't seen it, be advised that a lot of scenes are soft porn, so if that bothers you, it's best not to watch.

Me, I can hardly wait for Season 8.

My dad loved it and talked about it often. It's on my Netflix list to binge watch "one of these days". So much good TV, so little time. ;)

I think the worst part of the show was when the Hospital called "Butterface" to let her know that they had a donor heart for her and Frank intercepted it and made some excuse that she didn't need it so he could get her money. I almost quit watching the show.

Watch first 2 seasons on showtime and half of 3rd on the kids Netflix. Then fell out of watching it. Hands down the FUNNYIST show ever written. I love the lady who can't leave the house.

Ya it's a little rough, that one and the one where the slutty girls dad goes brick diving, it gets pretty deep LOL . The show also does a good job of catching the Chicago vibe.

Yeah, but that's Frank. He's a rotten human being and he doesn't care.

She's a good actress. I remember her as a cop on Third Watch.

Emmy Rossum is damn good as big sister Fiona.

At least 10 times I have yelled "Frank, you're a rotten no good bastard" at the screen.

Yeah, that scene was particularly heartbreaking.

Frank is scum. I think that's what makes Macy so brilliant in that role.

I have watched the show since the beginning. Every season I'm amazed how they can keep the show so interesting and crazy. The writers must be one twisted, I mean, creative group of people. :drooling:

Yes, they keep you on your toes with the often bizarre plot twists. I like the way they introduce new characters to interact with the core cast members.

I think some of the funniest moments are between Vee and the totally clueless Kevin.

I started binge watching this on Showtime on demand, but around the third year I just lost interest. It was funny, but like watching a train wreck. I'm no altar boy, frankly I got turned off by the gratuitous sex.

However, I had no problem watching The Sopranos whacking their adversaries.

Thanks, I didn't know this originated in the U.K.

I keep reading rave reviews of this show.....I love William Macy to begin with. Another series that I wish I had been on the bandwagon from the beginning. It is overwhelming to think of trying to catch up on. However, always on my bucket list.

I love Shameless and think the acting is superb. I just finished binge watching all the seasons of Downton Abbey that everyone I know recommended and I absolutely loved it - 54 episodes watched in two weeks - I couldn't stop watching - I must be mad!!!

Two very different series but I loved them both.

Turned many friends and family on to Shameless. Frank is the epitome of a character you hate to love!

And I agree, the acting on this show is fantastic. Joan Cusack was repeatedly nominated for an Emmy, and finally won it in 2015. (William H. Macy keeps getting passed over.) The most overlooked actor IMO is Noel Fisher and the range he shows as Mickey, especially the season when Ian's bipolar disorder seriously kicked in.

Love the show, Macy is great in his role as Frank.

The show provides a lot of money management lessons, I'm scheming on a way to keep my MIL "alive" so the pension checks keep rolling in. LOL

The Alibi Room is a typical Chicago bar, full of working class degens.

Shanola Hampton is a Nubian Goddess.

I really like Carl, a little hoodlum in training.

Seems like Liam is the only Gallagher who hasn't screwed somebody over.

Great line from Ian when he tried sex with a female: "How do you guys do it, all that stink and slime"?

I watched until I realized to myself what you just said. A lot of times in a story the curmudgeon or bad guy has some redeeming social value. But I finally came to the decision that this family has no value at all.

So I didn't start watching this season.

I agree that Vee and Kevin were very entertaining. And THEY have at least a little kindness in them!
