I'm hoping to make time for breakfast this trip, but I don't know of any good breakfast spots Downtown since Du-par's has closed. I reached out to Scott at Vital Vegas, but he doesn't really eat breakfast. Any suggestions near Fremont? BTW, I've had Donut Bar and it was excellent, but looking for a sit down meal. Thanks in advance for your help.

We ate breakfast at the D Grill last week. It was solid. I had eggs Benedict and my better half had an omelette. It was solid. Good service to boot. Of course they open at 8am, which is a bit late for my liking since I'm an east coast person who likes to stay on east coast time. And as someone previously said, comped food Usually is good. :feedme:

Thanks for the pic. I'm going to be staying at the D so maybe I'll give them a try. 8am is just fine for me :)

Magnolias at the 4Qs is solid. I generally opt for the buffet at MSS when I am staying there. I get the cooked to order eggs from the omelet guy.

I was looking at the boyd webcam yesterday from the Fremont. I see they are advertising a pancake special now that Dupar's is closed.
hash house at Plaza is good for big portions. I normally sleep thru breakfast hours. a good traditional sausage gravy and biscuits is my favorite, anytime of day, but I don't know where to find that. I don't want anything canned or instant or frozen.

The Cal has a breakfast buffet that's not bad. $6.25.

The only problem is that the buffet is simple. Only scrambled eggs (maybe hard boiled eggs too). They only have one buffet line (normally the evening salad bar) with standard entrees like waffles, meats, cereals and fruits. All self serve so unlike other buffets you can't ask to have your eggs or anything made special.

But for the price it is hard to beat as you can eat all you want for the same price you pay for a normal breakfast plate.

But for the OP, it all depends on what you want for breakfast. There are many places to go to for breakfast, the D even has a McD's if you want something quick and simple. The MSS breakfast buffet is good because they offer the standard breakfast fare but they also offer things like pizza and some desserts. They even have the ice cream maker so you can even get some ice cream for breakfast. Be aware that the maker may or may not be operational though, I found it available some times but not others.

Many times I have gone into Magnolia's thinking Gambler's Special and ended up with that instead. Just can't get enough gravy at breakfast. Speaking of gravy, favorite breakfast downtown is Loco Moco at Aloha Specialities in the Cal. Try it one time, I've introduced three people to it and they all were surprised by how much they like it.

Oh, and stay away from Siegel's; they can make comped food taste regrettable. Get it fixed, Kenny!

MTO (Made to Order) about a 10 min walk down Main St. from Plaza on same side of the street as Plaza. That is our new go too since DuPars closed. Don't miss the coffee if you like coffee!
