Upon hearing about the Young at Heart promotions at Boyd properties, I contacted them with our disappointment with them changing it to locals only. I guess my comments helped a bit (I'm sure I wasn't the only one who did this!) because I just got this email from them:

"Hi Georgina ~ thank-you for contacting us. Based on Customer feedback, Boyd has decided to reinstate our Young At Heart promotion to all starting this Wednesday.

    Have A great Day"

I guess it helps to speak up! We'll be in Vegas on the 14th, so we'll be checking it out. :)

good to hear! casino changes often bring out an uproar, but this one was HUGE. I wonder if they will go back to "normal" on their room offers.

I too can confirm this announcement based on a similar response to my correspondence from the B Connected Manager.

the wording from bconnected / the Orleans:

Participants must be B Connected members and must be at least fifty (50) years of age for all portions of this promotion, except the 4:30pm drawing at the following participating properties: The Orleans, Gold Coast and Suncoast. Age qualified B Connected members from any zip code may earn entries and participate in the drawing. Visit promotional kiosks for your Young at Heart offers and to activate your drawing entries. See B Connected for complete details

I am glad to hear this. They must have heard a lot of complaints to change it back so quickly. It's good to know they are listening to their customers.

I'd like to think they are reinstating the whole program but after reading vegasdev comment I wonder if they are not just reinstating the draw?

The draw means almost nothing to me but the whole program offered perks I could use before. The free buffets, the multiplier points...This is the old YAH offers -

Every Wednesday we are proud to offer our guests 50 years of age and older their very own Young at Heart Day! Drawings held every Wednesday at 4:30pm.
    • Earn up to 50X points from 7:00am until 11:59pm with our Mystery Point Multiplier!
    • Swipe at any Kiosk to earn entries into the $2,500 Cash Drawings.
    • $4 Movie Ticket redeemable before 6:00pm at properties with a Century movie theater.
    • Earn slot points for buffet coupons to be used that day.

I was at Fremont on 3/1/17 and I was disappointed to find out that Boyd changed the YAH to locals only. This would be outstanding if Boyd changes it back to non-locals.

I actually like the drawing at the Fremont. it was not too crowded, you had a chance to win. I hope it comes back. i will be staying downtown. now i will have to think, do i want to Uber to the GC or Orleans for the Weds YAH promo.

I am guessing they just haven't changed the rules online yet, I was at the Orleans on the first Wed that it was changed and was still able to get the draw ballots, just none of the of the other goodies......

Now we await someone going to Fremont and the others to see if all or part of the YAH program goes into affect. Will it be just multiplier? include Fremont again? buffets with points? etc. Hope someone is there from the group to report in a few hours.

The draw was never an issue. They said straight up that anyone could participate in the draw. What was missing were the freebies (meals/movies) and multipliers. I guess today is the day when we will see if they have reconsidered and gone back to the normal plan.

That's was not true for Sam's Town, the drawing was open to everyone only at Orleans, Gold Coast, and Suncoast.

The rules before the current change at Sam's:
Participants must be B Connected members, must be local residents with an 890 or 891 zip code address and must be at least fifty (50) years of age for all portions of this promotion, except the 4:30pm drawing at the following participating properties: The Orleans, Gold Coast and Suncoast.

Looks like their website has not been changed yet and the YAH promotion is missing. Here is the exact response I received from the Manager of the B Connected portal so my expectation is a full reversal to the previous rules:

"Due to our feed-back from last week – the decision was made to go back to the original procedures for Young at Heart.

This includes locals and non-locals are eligible for all promotions during Young at Heart.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

I guess this was a big part of the problem. Too many different rules at different properties. These promotions need to be more straightforward.
