Using someone else's players card?

I agreed to do a swap and now I have 6 players cards from various people that I am going to use at three Midwest Harrah's casinos on an overnight "hit and run" trip this week. I thought about playing dollar level video poker to save time in accumulating the 25 tier points on each card. What happens if I hit a hand pay (royal flush) while using another person's players card? Will the casino void the win and not pay me? Any repercussions from the casino? This is an unlikely scenario, but I am curious. Thanks

 

Generally, they have to pay you if you are legally playing and over age 21, with the caveat that there's probably not great case law on this issue in every Midwestern state. The repercussions would be more likely on the player's club side, if any.

What I would not do if I were you is use their free play.

If you're really worried about this, why not just play quarters or modify the $1 VP strategy to draw for fewer royals? Or play a $1 slot machine whose max payout is $1,199 or less?

 

I have never even had a slot tech look at my card when I won a hand pay. If my card was in the machine they would just pull it out and hand it to me and insert their own card to code and clear the machine.

If you hit a Hand Pay and pull out the card, if you are worried, they wont ask you to insert the card or if you have a card before paying you. They don't care. Nearly every host I have ever had has told me to make sure my friends or wife uses my card if they are going to play. I assume they want all the credit they can get from my account. I have never heard of anyone not being paid due to using another players card. I have often sat down and found another players card sitting in that machine. Would they not pay me if I didnt realize another gambler left their card in? Nope.

 

Why wouldn't you use their free play? I planned on using my husband's on my trip and he won't be there. Should I not use his free play?

 

I would do this but I wouldn't expect this to matter all that much - they know what card was in there when the button was pressed.

 

You can do what you want, and I doubt you will ever be caught, but the freeplay rules for many slot programs do require the person to be there. They can ban you from future freeplay offers in many cases. Generally, at low limits I wouldn't expect this to happen, but I wouldn't take a freeplay offer for a friend to the boat.

No one is going to care in all likelihood if you don't have a host (since they get alerts when players are on property) and if you avoid W2-Gs.

I also think it's a little different as husband/wife than as friends since you are playing from the same bankroll.

There's also the matter of how it affects your theo - using someone's freeplay without putting any $ on their card is terrible for your future offers in many slot programs. This is the real reason to not use someone else's freeplay in my mind.

 

I hit a hand pay. The attendant came by to fill out the paperwork. He stated, you are not the player whose card is in the machine. I got paid, but he said the person whose card is in the machine could get ban from the casino. Go figure.
In the future I will say I don't use my card in the machine and someone must have left the card in the machine and I did not notice.

 

I have used husbands card at times and did have a hand pay---as others have said all they did is pull the card and did not even look at it so I don't feel it is a problem. If anything would have been said I would just say I grabbed his card by mistake in the room as they still have to pay you.

I really don't think its anything to worry about especially in Vegas

You'll get your jackpot. If you are abusing the system they could simply void the points and stuff.

 

Thanks for the replies, I'm doing this for Harrahs TR quest promotion. I thought about playing at the quarter level, but with six cards I want to cut down on how much time in order to hit the 25 tier points required for a badge; plus I have to drive to each casino, one of which will be 3 hours from the other two so time is a factor. I didn't think about using their free play....they earned that free play not me, so as far as I am concerned, it's hands off. If things work out with this swap, I should rack up quite a few Quest badges which will make my job of maintaining my diamond status with Harrahs that much easier.

 

I thought about sending my card(s) out, but I don't want to risk losing free rooms by having only 25 points at multiple properties & trashing my ADT. I would rather give up Diamond for a year than have to pay for multiple room nights.

My bff's husband just experienced this. The sent his card with me to Vegas to keep comp dollars active. Heading to son's wedding in April and they emailed his host for the booking. Ended up with a RUDE (VERY VERY RUDE) reply and basically blown off. I contacted my host & he took care of booking them comped. So we had first hand experience at what can happen when a low day is thrown into the mix.

 

If you're thinking of using FP for the QFR, most of the casinos have closed that loophole. You cannot earn TC using FP anymore. You must first "run" the FP through a machine, then cash out whatever's left and then you can earn TC.

This happened to me Sunday in Ak-Chin and Laughlin.

 

IT normally does not matter until you get over the 10k mark. usualy they do a much more in depth "investigation" over the hand pay. I myself have hit numerous hp's with someone elses card in. Many places don't care at all. Some places I have been asked who is the certain somebody card who was in. Just said I don't know. They came back with the corrected w2g. I wouldn't worry about it unless your playing something over 10k, and even then they probably wont care much after they review the camera and see that you are the one playing and who won it.

 

I have hit handpays with wifes card mutliple times. I ALWAYS pull out the card and ready to hand them MY card and ID when they get there. Never an issue.

Personally, due to tax issues I am working hard this year to avoid any damned W-2gs and am trying hard to play lower limit slots. I am tired of it messing up medicare, and wifes healt insurance due to high first page income.

 

I actually hit a hand pay for 2000 using my dads card and on his free play this year at my local casino. They showed up before I had a chance to switch the cards out they filled out the tax forms in his name even though he took my ID. He said "I'll be right back" I figured they had to review the video. He was gone over an hour and I was getting very nervous that I was not gonna get payed. When he finally came back he was all apologetic about how long it took he said they were so busy they forgot all about me. I was like: no problem. Took my money and ran for the doors all smiles. Spent the rest of the night gambling at the competitors casino lol.
