    West tower being remodeled currently. East tower later. BTW Lapert's is closed for remodeling. Makes me wonder where I could use my remaining Aloha meal coupons when I leave on Sunday. Not to beat a dead horse but closing the Cal Club snack bar a while back sure sucked.

    Nope. I stayed at the IP/Quad/Linq and the pool is much bigger than the one at the cal. I had a room facing the pool at the IP and it was at least twice as big as the Cal pool, if not bigger. Will post a picture if I can find it but it's been many years since I stayed there, probably when it was still the IP or when it was undergoing changes as the Quad or something.

    cal tickets now are 30 days, I think most other places are 180 days. Gaming commission shouldn't allow that, should be like cash or at least like they handle chips. Next change will be to 7 days.

    Ramen noodles from the Noodle House covered 100% with the lunch coupon w/beverage included. They also have chicken katsu for lunch covered 100% with the lunch coupon, it was very crispy and good but I forgot to take a pic.

    You can probably use your card key to go out to the pool. Not sure if it is officially "open" but as you can see in the picture, there isn't much to it.

    You are lucky you aren't there today. Not pool weather. Maybe this weekend.

    But be aware that the pool at the Cal is usually blocked by the LVC tower so the pool will be COLD!

    The Cal pool is cold on any day but feels refreshing when that sun is beating down on ya

    Since Lappert's is currently closed for remodeling, the Cal is using the old cashier's cage on the Mezzanine level next to the men's/women's bathrooms as a snack booth to use and redeem left over Aloha coupons. They carry popcorn, cookies, and other snacks for purchase but the hours of operation is limited for instance they close at 6:00 pm. (I went at about 7:30 pm on Sunday night and they were closed). So instead I walked over to Fremont and used my left over coupons at Lanai express where they were open from 11:00 am until 7:00 am. (yes those hours are correct, so Lanai express closes from 7:00 am thru 11:00 am for 4 hours).

    Did you notice if they sell coffee? Lappert's was our go-to for our morning coffee in the room. Remodeling is supposed to be finished by the end of March. ( Previously it was supposed to be finished by the end of February.) We will be there the first part of April, so my fingers are crossed that Lapperts is up & running.

    No coffee at the temporary snack place in the old cashier spot on the Mezzanine level, sorry. The Cal should provide a place to buy coffee other than the Market Street café or the bars in the early morning.

    All of my meals were covered either by the Aloha meal coupons or comped by a family friend;

    Tuesday night;

    Loco moco (breakfast served all day) just before 10:00 pm just before they closed for the monthly cleaning

    Wednesday;

    Fremont buffet breakfast, cooked to order omelette.

    Lunch was the Island short rib at Cal which was very tender and soft

    Prime rib at Cal, salad bar, cherries jubilee (first of two prime rib dinners for me this trip)

    Oxtail soup at Cal at 2:00 am, about 4 medium sized pieces, half were tough pieces the other half were tender

    Thursday;

    Breakfast at Cal, Zippy's chili spaghetti with garlic bread

    Lunch buffet at MSS beef brisket very tender, kalua pig w/cabbage, pork gisantes, etc.

    Dinner at the Cal Hawaiian hamburger steak special

    Friday;

    Breakfast at Cal steak & eggs

    Lunch at Noodle House chicken katsu

    Dinner at Redwood, started with buttered bread and olives, main course was the 10 oz filet mignon ($35) and baked potato side ($10), finished with Kona coffee which was smooth and flavorful, a family friend treated me on a comp.

    Saturday

    Breakfast at Cal New York steak & eggs special

    Lunch at Noodle House ramen noodles

    Dinner at Cal where a friend let me use another Prime rib specialty coupon (2nd Prime rib for me)

    Sunday;

    Breakfast at Cal Zippy's chili and rice

    What do you mean snacks? Pizza, pretzels, hot dogs? I might be hitting it up Friday.

    1) Potato chips
    2) cookies
    3) caramel popcorn
    4) other snacks

    No pizza, no pretzels, no hot dogs. Basically that temporary "snack shop" is a place for people who have left over Aloha meal coupons to redeem those coupons for potato chips, cookies, or caramel popcorn and other snacks.

    sounds great, but it seems Boyds don't want us non-locals staying or playing there. 'cept for the Hawaiians.

    Only the Hawaii people who fly on their charters. The rest of us who fly ala carte don't get the food coupon book unless we pay more for it. I guess that's why they got rid of that lanai restaurant, they want the guests without the coupon books to go to their market st. café or that noodle house with the high prices for meals instead of the reasonably priced (former) café.
