I agree with almost all of the proposals especially pertaining to the greens. Golf is full of archaic and dumb rules and this is a good start of ridding many from the book

Whatever it takes to allow me to play 18 holes in 3 hours and I'd be happy.

MLB is supposedly speeding up the game by getting rid of the 4 pitch intentional walk. A couple of studies have shown that should speed up the game by an average of 47 seconds. I am not a millennial by decades, but I hate wasting 5 hours on a round of golf or 3.5-4 hours on a BB game. So I just don't.

I thought of all you golfers yesterday when I had brunch at Jack Nicklaus's Golden Bear ( Think that's what it was called) restaurant/bar yesterday. They had really good bacon! Lol

My usual group gets around in under 3.5. And that's walking. Three is even better!

These rules should help, but most of the pace-waste can be attributed to golfers. Overpacked tee sheets are one thing, but so many rec golfers -- and I notice this a lot in Vegas, particularly -- seem to have such an entitlement attitude out there, and they don't really give a shit what their practices are doing to other players.

For me anyway I've put golf as it relates to me and my golf buddys in it's proper perspective so to speak. at 71 I dont shoot in the low 80's and high 70's like years past and also most of my friends who can still play dont either, Last week I played with my one buddy ,had a nice day but all this week his sciatica has him in pain all day and night. .

Ken, you should send them your thread about what rules we don't like.

I think the "it's okay to leave the flag stick in" is a great one. Speeds up play for sure.
Other "Areas of the Course" changes are all good and make the most real change to the rules.

Golf to me is an experience. Every year I get less and less enthused with the numbers obsession that is so much of the game, whether it's the "mine's bigger" knuckle draggers thinking if it ain't 7400 yards it nae golf or the bogus handicaps or whatever. It's friends, nature, the needle, good shots, bad shots, the good walk, whatever.

From now on the person who gets the highest score will win, not the other way around.

Seems the way it is now, the golfer who actually golfs the least is the winner.

I don't have a list. I was referring to this thread:
    https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/changing-the-rules-of-golf.128301/

I laughed when I read my first post, the second in the thread. I had forgotten all that I had said on that post. So yes, I support the newly proposed flag stick rule!

I agree with the max score per hole, we play "no one gets a 10", 9 is the max.

ESC already takes care of that, but this will codify it for "official" matches.

    Spot on.

And agree on OB being lateral (my course has OB next to just about every hole and it's very demoralising). However, I'm guessing that is a stretch too far and would have too much an impact on handicaps.

    Thanks for posting, Ken.
My local radio sportstalk host teased me on these "new" possible rule changes -
but I flipped channels before I heard.
Was wondering what was up ?
    *
Can we have a time limit for the cheap......sorry,,,,,FRUGAL players -
who check the weeds for lost balls every other hole ?
    *
The lateral drop on OB ? ( did I read that correctly ? )
    I guess so........
9 outta 10 players don't penalize themselves the proper way anyhow !

No, OB right now is slated to remain unchanged. The lost-ball allowance would be down to three minutes. If I was Golf Czar it would be 30 seconds ... they sell 'em by the dozen for a reason. lol

There's even an allowance to drop outside a bunker -- with penalty -- and not have to go back to the original spot of that stroke. Grounding will be OK; a little late for Anna Nordqvist (and DJ).

All the recent controversies will help making the changes happen.
