I wish them well... hey, the downtown "formula" is working. There's always several ways to skin a cat and I'm happy to see that strategy works. I used to poke fun at downtown, but the numbers and happy, loyal customers are real and can't be poo-pooed.

I hope it continues. ELCO is not my favorite downtown spot, but that can change.

Many, many years ago, ElCo was a hidden gem that people stayed away from. It has always been my favorite place. Since Jackie passed away, things have changed. Some for the better, some for the worse. I want them to succeed in anything they do.

I originally wanted the Parlour Bar to fail because I loved the old video poker bar and hated the fifty cent machines. Since then I have heard rumors of a velvet rope night club, instead we got a pizza joint. Then I heard rumors of a millennials bar called Imbibe, now we get I.K.E.s sports bar. I think Kenny is making more decisions than his daughter, and I like the new direction. Except for Siegels; that place is awful and Kenny knows it.

I'm looking forward to checking out the new casino bar. The old one sure was ugly.

Realistically, I think having Kenny is almost as good as having Jackie still around. Given the rate of change specifically in Vegas, I try to soak in as much ElCo as I can so that when Kenny is gone too, I won't mind so much that the joint becomes BeerCup Bros and the FlipShits or whatever.

I'm a big fan of Boyd properties but El Co has won me over with decent comps and constant promotions. I enjoy the Cabana Suites with dual air conditioners. I really like the variety of games too. My only wish is they had a bar like the Boar's Head but I wish that for every property. Luckily Siegels has been good to me.

Does anyone remember the penny slot (coin droppers)area I think it was called the Copper Mine? LOL that was a real experience. And they used to have one poker table with like a 25 cent ante. The locals would salivate if you looked like you might play. A lot has changed most for the better.

I was recently gambling there (2/21 - 2/24), and I was pleasantly surprised that they've added a lot of blackjack tables & they had a large tub filled with iced-down bottles of various beers right in the middle of the pit I was playing.
For a Thursday night, they were VERY busy!

So they put a tub of beer out there, I wonder how the CW's feel about that, it must hurt their tips?

It's the best spot to play BJ downtown. Best rules and low table limits. I did like the tubs of beer in the pit last time i was there. Easy to get service. I don't play slots but they definitely are "classics" compared to others. The pizza place in there kicks ass (if you like NY style). VP payout is also good. I think it's worth a visit if you're downtown and like VP or BJ.

merlin...when I was there, they had a CW in the pit, who was only responsible for beer requests... and (hopefully) was getting tips from players other than just me.
The other CWs were still plenty-busy with cocktail orders.

Amazing to me the Plaza gets a bad rap when the ElCo is the nastiest smelling joint downtown. Having said that I'm there for a few hours every trip

Love this place and love the good press. I shared this article in Facebook Vegas groups I belong to and it instigated some great dialogue.

Some people think this place is a dive but it has become my absolute favourite hang out over the last sevral years. I love it.

El Cortez is definitely smokey and does have some smell pumped in but it's nothing close to the poison fumes in the Plaza. I can't last 2 minutes in there.

When I was there last year they had a $3 craps table but it wasn't all the time, mostly during the day and after a certain time the tables were all $5 minimums.
