I got my offer for MSS for May and June -- Yes, it looks like MSS is moving to a 2-month cycle.

It is a downgrade from 3 nights + $20 food credit (G74MAAD) to 2 nights + $10 free bet (G75VAIC), even though I went from 'D' to 'C' (maybe the last letter doesn't mean anything anymore).

More alarmingly, the language in the fine print has changed.

The new language now says (bold mine):

Offers are based on single or double occupancy and may only be redeemed by person named on this offer for a Deluxe Room. Offer is subject to availability, non-transferable and may not be used with any other offer. Blackout dates may apply. 72-hours required between all promotional stays at any Boyd Gaming Las Vegas property, whether or not included in this mailer; back-to-back complimentary stays are prohibited. 48 hours advance notice required for all cancellations. Must be 21 years of age or older. No cash value. Credit card required for reservation and at check-in. Additional complimentaries are based on rated casino play. Management reserves the right to modify or cancel any promotion without prior notice. One room per household, per visit.

Whereas the old language was (bold mine):

Your mailer and photo ID must be presented at check-in for redemption. Additional complimentaries are based on rated casino play. Offer is subject to availability, non-transferable and may not be used with any other offer. 72-hours required between all promotional stays at Main Street Station, the California Hotel & Casino and Fremont Hotel whether or not included in this mailer; back-to-back complimentary stays are prohibited. Holiday and special event exclusion dates apply. 48 hours advance notice required for all cancellations. You must be 21 or over to participate. Credit card is required to confirm reservation and for hotel check-in. Management reserves the right to modify or cancel any promotion without prior notice. One room per household, per visit.

I used to go to other Boyd properties in Vegas redeeming 2/3 day comps between each one... Now that looks like it won't be possible anymore. Their loss -- I play at wherever I stay, so by forcing me to stay elsewhere they won't be getting my play, as low-rolling as it may be.

    this sucks.
But, if it allows me to book back to back between MSS and GC/Orleans ONLINE, then I will!

I had that issue in February at Orleans. I had to leave and come back 3 days later.

I noticed the change too. Someone in another post mentioned marketing taking over for all locations. I'm guessing Boyd hasn't changed this in a while.

they shouldn't allow you to book it (even online) if it is not allowed. do they suddenly have something against gamblers staying in their hotels and gambling in their casinos? they shouldn't send out offers if we cant use them. soon it will be as bad as the coupons from Macy's -- you cant use them on ANYTHING!

I think they're falling into the rhythm of most casinos downtown. I don't really get 1 month offers from anywhere there. Most have the two month offers. It is a bummer though. I wouldn't mind booking MSS and Sam's Town back to back. I sure do love quick quads, even on sub par paytables.

I feel the same way. Don't quite understand what they're thinking or the rationale behind this. My upcoming March trip I have 5 days at the Cal and 2 days at the Orleans back to back that was booked back in January.

If for any reason they renege on these confirmed comped bookings and try to charge me for the rooms I'll stop them right there and say that's ok, I'll stay and play somewhere else.

I have reservations for march / april that I have had for a while, before some of the new changes. I am at the Cal paying sapphire rate on march 31 and april 01. 2 comped nights at the Fremont on April 2 and 3. so is this not going to be allowed? I have done it before with no problem.

Your experience is similar to mine. Last August, I played more than I ever had at MSS and averaged 10K coin-in per day and my offer went from 2 nights to 3 nights with $20 food credit. Shortly after the new year, I averaged another 10K for two days. My May/June offer is for 2 nights and $20 free play but no food credit. So I went from $20 in food to $20 in FP and lost a night. I can probably get another night from a host if I ask. I should probably lower my play there if that's the best I can do at that level.

They send several offers, hoping you will use one. Someone pointed out to me in another thread, you are only worth so much to them. If they know you gamble "x" amount over three days, why would you give you six days? Made sense to me.

Yep, that's the rationale. Obviously in some cases some people with multiple stays will play an similar amount on their second consecutive offer, and we'll hear all about those people, but obviously that is the exception not the rule, according to the data they collect on players and offers.

Your first stay isn't complimentary. You should be fine.

And generally speaking, I think this is a dumb move by boyd. If they are losing out on profit from people booking back to back stays who low play them, they should cut their comps out appropriately, but don't punish those that gamble enough to justify a 4 to 6 night stay between two boyd properties...

I understand the concept behind this. One slot club, one set of offers per person. Okay great. But with all the people using offers for multiple properties per trip, no longer being able to use them, you would think your offers would increase to make up for it. For example if you used to get dining and slot credit at three properties, but now can only stay at one, the offer should be higher to compensate. But they don't seem to be doing that.

I've used back-to-back room offers at all three downtown properties before, and wonder if anything has truly changed. Without playing the semantics game, could the new wording be an attempt to state more clearly that 72 hours must elapse before using another offer at any of the SAME Boyd properties? That's been the policy anyway for several years or more.

I've taken advantage of offers at Suncoast, MSS, Gold Coast, and Orleans for the past few years, one after the other. Are we absolutely certain that doing so will no longer be permitted? Has anyone had any firsthand experience lately? For sure, if the policy has truly changed for the worse, it will definitely affect trip durations and where I stay and play.

You are the master on the multiple nights at Boyd casinos, so I was waiting for your response.

Did I read it wrong? If you read the op's fine print between the old and new language both says that you cannot use back to back promotional stays. 72 hours required between promotional stays. The only difference between old and new is that this relates to ALL boyd properties, not just the downtown properties. But the fine print for both say that additional offers are based on your rated casino play.

While I hardly get comps I did encounter this situation with discount offers. About 8 years ago I tried to use 2 different offers for discounted/free rooms and they caught me when I was checking in. I guess my problem was that I had the offers at the same hotel so they immediately caught the second offer and rescinded the 2nd reservation. Unfortunately I had a snooty desk person and she wouldn't have any of that.

I don't think this is anything new because I have read that fine print for many years already. I think it is just a matter of whether they are actually enforcing their rules or not.

The main problem is that you can make separate reservations using different special offers, they don't really check if you had back to back reservations. I did ask once and the reservations person said that you cannot use back to back offers. I do know some people just call back and make a separate reservation using the other special code but I'm not sure if they honor the back to back offer or not. I do have friends who gamble a lot and they just have the host make the reservation to get the back to back offers since their play warrants the comped rooms.

I always book online over BConnected, but have occasionally had to do so over the phone or when making changes. In most cases, the operator has seen my back-to-back reservations at different Boyd/Coast properties and never had a problem! I sure hope this is a false alarm and not a major policy shift.

It is a major policy change starting March 1, 2017. It is also a major procedure change to how Boyd handling marketing offers. They are now doing the same thing as
    Mlife.
    Old experiences no longer valid.

I agree, but I think the reason most casinos' offers are for 3 or 4 nights and almost everybody has a 72 hour rule is because the average stay in Vegas is around 3 or 4 nights. And stays beyond 6 - 7 nights are probably a low %.

They want to get your bankroll when it's freshest. So making 3 - 4 night offers and requiring 3 nights in between probably maximizes that. They'll get the largest group of people coming in on offers on days 1 -3 of their trips, a much smaller group coming in on days 3 - 6, and an even smaller group who are coming in on days 7 and up.

    They have gone completely nuts.

No YAH if you are an out of towner.

No multipliers if you are an out of towner.

No back to back comp stays at different properties.

Boyd used to get 95% of our play. We'll be revising that equation immediately.
