The D rooms ... and MSS

I normally stay in a suite at Golden Gate but they aren't available at a reasonable price. So I'm looking elsewhere downtown. My requirements are a comfy bed, good shower, clean, and not too noisy. I was thinking about the D and wondered what the difference was between the Deluxe King, Corner King and Premium Corner King. Another thought was to stay at Main Street Station. I haven't stayed there is a long time. I also considered the California, but they don't have rooms the days I'm looking.

Any opinions and/or thoughts?

Stayed at D a couple of weeks ago.
Comfortable bed ..,yes
Good shower...yes had a square shower head
Noisy..FSE light show moise but I was on a low floor

Paid priceline 17/nite plus fees..,offered corner suite for 20 more a nite at check-in

Overall great value for the price

 

Stayed at the D for a couple weeks last summer, and really like the place.

Nice beds, good refurbed bathrooms with a nice walk-in shower.

I was on the 32nd floor, and didn't notice any noise when I went to bed*



*Normally early hours most nights.

 

Thanks. I'm now leaning towards The D over MSS. I think another choice could be the Premium Tower at the 4 Queens. I think these are set back (so maybe quiet?) and were remodeled?

 

We have been staying at the D ever since it changed over from Fitzgeralds. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms have been updated. The difference in the rooms is that the Deluxe King is a regular room with a small table with 2 chairs, the corner king is a larger room situated on the corners of the hotel, the window wraps around by about a foot or so. There is a sofa with a pull out bed and you get a fridge. The premium corner king is the same as the corner king except it is on a higher floor, starting at floor 15 I think.

We always reserve a corner king because we like to have a fridge and the couch is pretty comfortable compared to the chairs in the regular rooms. Usually we end up getting a premium corner king without even asking. There really isn't a big difference in price so it is worth it to have somewhere comfy to relax.

 

Had stayed at the D for many years, and find the bed comfy and the bathroom fine. Almost every room I was in had some noise, and being a light sleeper, I have finally moved on to MSS. That said, there is noise at MSS from the freeway or the railroad, but it seems much easier to mask with the AC/fan unit than the thumping bass at the D. I love the frig in the regular room at MSS as well as the chairs/table in each room. I also feel housekeeping does a better job at MSS, and the hall noise tends to be less (just an older clientele I think).
It is a longer walk to Fremont at MSS, but that is fine with me. And I find the casino more enjoyable without the loud music that the D plays.
