After discussion here, I used the WAX from downtown to the stop near the Tropicana. I had to use the cross over bridge over LV Blvd. and then walk over to the other bridge to cross Tropicana to NYNY. This was kind of inconvenient, but the 201 was there quickly and stops right next to the Orleans sign, just a few steps from one of the entrances. It was the same on the way back. If there was a better way using these 2 buses, I missed it.

The Orleans.... it was OK. There are lots of older machines including my favorites, the original Goldfish and Outback Jack. I need to look at a floor plan of the casino area. Seems like there are several different wings, kind of a confusing layout. I spent about 3 hr. there and in that time, lost $40. Not a bad payout.

It does seem kind of isolated out there, but there are the shuttles to get you to the strip & other Boyd properties.

I'm not sure I would do this again from Downtown. Even using the WAX, it seemed to take up a good portion of the day.

Glad you made it, @Sue24. Yes, the one wing heads north towards the parking garage and arena. Not a lot of slots up there ... the poker room, a bar and the fast food court.

Have you used the Boyd "Slot Search" if you're looking for a particular machine?

I've yet to head out there to check it out!
    Perhaps on my next trip...

Glad to hear you made it, though!

Some Vegas goers resent the extra time bus travel takes, but I use it as time to "reset" away from the gambling for abit. I enjoy seeing other parts of Vegas that are less talked about by visitors, and to get to know the city a little better. It definitely takes some patience!

When we lived there, our top picks were Suncoast, MSS & Orleans in that order. But yes, I don't think I would ever go through the bus nonsense to get out to Orleans. Suncoast is an easy ride from downtown on the WAX.

I did like Orleans and the atmosphere, plus the rooms were nice. Pay tables were decent on VP, but it's hard to believe it is now 7 years since we moved, so who knows.

I think the free boyd shuttles are less hassle and maybe faster then all the buses. the orleans shuttle goes to gold coast and Linq every few minutes all day.

I'm glad you made it to Orleans.
We like it there and tend to stay for a few days every trip. The rooms are comfortable and a decent size.
