I'm considering either Tunica (Memphis) or Biloxi (Gulfport) for this year's DAL2 trip.

I've been to the Gulf Coast and it would be satisfactory, splitting my time between Harrahs Gulf Coast and Beau Rivage, and going to the buffet at Silver Slipper.

I am also leaning towards Tunica, since there are the same number of casinos, mLife also has a property and it's somewhere I haven't yet been.

I'd love to hear opinions for people who have been to either or both.

Just visited both places. Tunica is a nice casino but little else to do since the casinos are not together. Biloxi has it all in one place and the casinos are right on the ocean. We stayed at Harrah's in both locations and if you want more than gambling Biloxi is by far the better choice. In addition New Orleans is only a hours drive away.

Both Harrah's hotels are very nice.

Did you spend any time in Memphis? That is the reason I am considering Tunica. Driving is not a problem for me. Also stayed in New Orleans at Harrahs in January.

I travel to both but most of my time is at the Beau Rivage now. In fact, will be at the Beau Rivage next month. Pool and Gulf of Mexico views from the room are my draws here.

Tunica has 2 good golf courses within 10 minute drive of Gold Strike, if that is of interest. 3 casinos within walking distance of Gold Strike (MGM), Horseshoe (CET) and Road House(CET) others are a few miles drive. Really not much else to do in Tunica, and as you mentioned, Memphis is only about 45 minute drive. Beale Street can be fun.

Hard Rock is a 10 minute walk away. IP (Boyd) is a short drive. Golden Nugget and Palace are also close. Brand new MLB park across form the Beau, the Biloxi Shuckers. This is a great diversion during minor league season. MGM/Beau Rivage is a major sponsor. Good golf in Biloxi and a couple of not so good, but cost is higher than Tunica.

BBQ in Memphis or gulf coast seafood in Biloxi.

As I said, I go to both.

    Enjoy, whatever is your choice.

We didn't go to Memphis, we were on a quest for Harrah's we spent 5 days in the area. We went from New Orleans to Bossier City to Tunica and finished in Biloxi. The Harrah's properties are all first rate but we didn't spend a lot of time enjoying the atmosphere in any of them.

I live in Memphis so I spend most of my gambling time at Tunica, I also go to Biloxi some... Including last week. I MUCH prefer the synergy if Biloxi, however I am big on the IP there (boyd). Can't stand the Beau Rivage, or any other MGM casinos because of terrible VP payables. Never stepped foot into the Harrah's there. I will say this, if you enjoy the Diamond lounge, the hours are sooooo much better at Horseshoe Tunica, open till midnight.

We went to Tunica once and that was more than enough. While the casinos are fine there is absolutely nothing to do in the area unless you go to Memphis. We went to Graceland but I'm not sure there's much else to do there unless you go to Beale St. Biloxi, OTOH, is one of our favorite places. We just returned from an MLife junket and, as usual, had a great time. We're not the type to sit in the casino all day and love outdoor activities and there are so many to do. We enjoy going to Ship Island, shrimp boat tours, swamp tours, Dolphin watching cruises (but we 've never seen a dolphin there), Gulf Islands National Seashore in Ocean Springs-so much to do if you like that kind of thing. This time we went into NOLA for a day to get our CET "badges" and to have some beignets (we've been to NOLA many times so didn't need to do the tourist stuff.) We also went on a van tour (by reservation only) to the Sand Hill Crane Reserve and saw many cranes and even a bald eagle.

Harrah's in Biloxi, IMHO, is a dump compared to the Beau but maybe they have remodeled recently. We always stay at the Beau and haven't stayed at Harrah's in years so I don't know. I guess it depends on what you enjoy doing. For us, Biloxi wins hands down.

If you are interested in history, the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis would be a definite must see. The Tunica casinos basically sit in cotton fields, so other than some Blues related things you would probably want to plan to drive back to Memphis.

    Damn.
That's depressing. I had 3 nights booked at Harrahs Gulf Coast 8/14-17 and 1 night at Tunica 8/17-18 (on the way back to Buffalo NY)! Think that Im gonna switch to 4 straights at Biloxi. Other than diamond lounge hrs, doesn't seem like much of an attraction to Tunica. Only downside will be 10 hr drive from Biloxi to Horseshoe South Indy!

Tunica is literally in the middle of nowhere

The only attraction there, to me, besides the casinos is some golf

Well, I'm waiting for the NBA schedule to come out (in August). I would like to see the Warriors play the Grizzlies, so it might be Memphis.

We spent one night at the Horseshoe back during the Race for Rewards and really enjoyed the casino. It was the first time I had seen where you could order a drink from your machine. The room was nice but there isn't much of a view. It is nice that The Roadhouse and The Gold Spike are right next to it so easy walking. It was one of the two casinos I had a positive outcome on from the four that we visited for the race on that road trip.

Been awhile seen we've went, but we've enjoyed going to Memphis Grizzlies games when we visited.

Unless you plan to visit the Louisville area as well, l'd rather go to Tunica than Horseshoe S. Indiana. S. Indiana is also in the middle of nowhere and has no "free" alcohol. But S. Indiana may be on a more direct route back home too?

More direct route and closer to home. Plus I'm 15 mins from Louisville and the Muhammad Ali Center!

I must admit, on my last visit to S Indiana horseshoe , I learned what a soy bean plant looks like. That's the only thing I'd see for miles in Indy.

Just to clarify. The two CET casinos and Gold Strike (MGM) are walking distance to each other. The other 4 casinos require a drive.

Decent gaming and food at the CET/MGM complex. Horseshoe is better than Harrahs Gulfport by a mile. Gold Strike is nice but not a match for Beau Rivage.

Agree.. not much else to do without driving somewhere.
