Slots Slots on strip - any still take coins?

Hi All

Staying at NYNY at end of March. Wife misses the bucket of coins when playing the slots. She has hence asked if there are any in operation on the strip, even if a tad off it eg Ellis island.

Not aware of any on the strip. There were some on Fremont Street until fairly recently at Mermaids and Mardi Gras, but last time I was there even those had closed down. Somebody might be better informed than I am, but I think they're completely gone now unless you're willing to venture out to the Gold Strike in Jean NV.

I don't know of any coin-dropper slots on the strip.
On Fremont Street (Downtown) the Plaza has an area of Coin-dropper Video Poker machines.

 

The last time I saw coin in/out machine was about 4 years ago downtown. I wasn't looking on subsequent trips. The reason that I remember is because I put $100 into a 25 cent Video Poker machine and then a friend sat down at a different bank of machines so I decided to move and hit cash out.. 400 coins later I took the bucket to the cashier. This was at Fremont. I know we also saw some 5 cent slots that were coin in/out in the upstairs section of a different casino downtown (can't recall which).

 

I just don't get the attraction of using dirty coins/sticky coin droppers/trying to find a bucket/never getting the right amount out of the machine.

 

NY NY on the strip still has a Big Bertha slot near the exit by the Sports Book. She still pays out in coins. Its a fairly loose machine as well, the only problem is having to trek all the way back to the cashier to turn those dollar tokens into real money.

 

I think there's actually 3 or 4 of those Big Bertha type $1 special coin token machines in NYNY.
They were all on the outer perimeters of the casino of the gaming floor.
You can put bills or the special tokens in them. I don't think they accepted TITO. They pay in tokens only.
It's quite a trek to the cashier if you play the Bertha next to the food/restrooms.

 

If I remember correctly, the "D" had a 2nd floor Vintage Area. I remember the dirty coins and the horse racing game.
