    Greetings,

I am making a solo trip out in April and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for places on the strip with comfortable bar seating but also food of a higher quality than pub fare. I know this is available pretty much everywhere but in the past it has been hit or miss for me as far as feeling comfortable dining at the bar. To highlight one positive example, I always enjoy the food and atmosphere at the bar at Sage.

Where are your favorite fine dining places to eat solo?

    Thanks

It's possible to score 1 seat at é by José Andrés in Jaleo at the Cosmopolitan. Very unique and fun experience. I emailed them in advance of a trip in December and gave them the duration of my stay and I scored a "golden ticket".

Gallaghers in NYNY. You can sit at bar inside the restaurant or casinoish side.

    Great prime rib and horseradish.

What type of atmosphere do you want.

For a nicer meal at a bar that sort of preserves the upscale ambience, I really liked the bar at Carnevino. It was a pretty long bar with big comfortable stools, so even with a few other customers you wouldn't feel like you are packed in there. The bartender was versed on the menu and it felt relaxed and classy.

On the other side of things, I think Gordon Ramsey is great if you want the nicer food but a more casual atmosphere. Their bar had a TV, and GR steak is also already noisier with more modern decor. Also a bit tighter, so it feels more like you are out to eat at a pub, and then getting high end food.

Delmonico also had a classy bar area that felt like part of the restaurant, but a much smaller bar.

In SW and CUT their bars looked like afterthoughts, which would be good for waiting for a table, but would not be a great dining experience. Although I didn't actually eat at either bar.

Strip House had a good bar setup but I didn't like the food or service much.

Julian Serrano at Aria is also a good place to dine solo, Wolfgang Puck at Crystals too. I also agree with Delmonico.

At Orleans, Prime Rib Loft and downtown the Redwood. Very affable and attentive. Or not so if you choose. Very reasonable. And a comp is better.

Every upscale restaurant in Aria has bar seating.
    Carbone!!!
    Bardot
    Julian Serrano
    Jean George Steakhouse
    Sage

I have dined at the bar alone at all of these and it is very comfortable.

I have been treated very well as a solo diner at Carnevino, Strip House and Rao's, all which have a nice big bar. The bartenders were always friendly and social to me. I've been to Carnevino several times alone, late at night, and the bartender was giving me healthy tastings of wine to try. I was treated well at the bar at Mon Ami Gabi, heavy pours of wine, but the bar is small. Of course they treated me well at L'Atellier de Joel Robuchon ( too lazy to look up spelling ), but the tasting is really a bar seating thing.

I do it all over the place with no issue (90% solo Vegas-er), but +1 for Gallagher's NYNY, and also have had a good experience at Carbone at Aria. The bar staff there have a great time and involve those seated at the bar.

Don't forget Javier's! Excellent list of margaritas. I recommend the carnitas.

A second for Todd English's Olives in Bellagio if you want to eat at the bar and still feel like you're in a nice setting.

Beautiful atmosphere if you like old world, and the beef carpaccio is one of my must-have's every trip!

I'm already looking forward to it....

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I was interested in Carbone but isn't it a family style joint?

The portions are large and my wife and I typically split things, but no, not family style.

Totally agree about Javier's! Good atmosphere just off casino floor, lively bar with comfortable chairs, and the jalapeno margaritas and carnitas are amazing. Great chips and salsa too.
