I don't play slots so I'm curious as to how you slot players decide which machines to play. I'm not talking denominations, that's mostly budget based. I'm not talking which casino. But how do you pick your machines? Do you play machines that have "bonus games" like Wheel of Fortune? Do you only play progressives because you want a shot at a huge payout? Do you play a machine because it's theme is a favorite TV show/movie of yours? Do you stick to one or two favorites or do you play a bunch of different machines? If you have a nice win on a particular machine do you then seek out and play that type of machine?

There are so many different machines out there, if I decided to start playing slots I would probably just randomly pick them.

I play slots that have fun bonuses. I'm looking for entertainment vs. a big payout. I rarely play progressives, but do play WOF Mega Bucks some. If I do 5 "pulls" and don't get anything, I move on. I like the old Wizard of Oz, Game of Thrones, Michael Jackson, some of the Monopoly games, Star Wars, and usually check out new games that have recently come out.

Great question - because I love slots and play many hours a day...

For me budget isn't usually determinative of what denomination I play.

Sometimes. My go to in this category is Top Dollar. Also like some of the penny slot bonus games. I am a Buffalo hater, because Buffalo bonuses hate me :grrr:

No. I play some progressives if I like the game. I've had some successes on smaller progressives so I prefer those to the humongous payout progressives. On higher denomination games, I don't always play max credits, so I shy away from progressives in those instances where I'd be 'penalized' for not playing max - not all progressives are alike so I am careful to read/know the rules when not playing max.

Occasionally for some variety but don't spend a lot of time or money on that type machine.

Both. I prefer the old timey reel slots and have several favorites that get most of my play, also a few favorite penny slots, but I do have wandering sessions where I try a lot of different machines.

I've won many handpays on the same exact machine and/or same type game on a bank of machines so I give those a decent amount of play.

I generally prefer games that have a lot going on but if I don't have reasonable luck the first couple tries I usually break up with a slot. I almost always try any new themed game but often find they are much more naughty than nice to me. My favorite thing to do is hit and run playing lots of stuff. I am a sucker for 3 wheeled LOTR, wonka, and godfather machines which are all basically the same machine with different themes and slightly different bonuses but they do hit frequently. I also like games that keep playing when you win a spin such as all that glitters and invader from the planet moolah and games that have a game on the left that transfers to the right such as gems gems gems, silver sword, and Spartacus. Even though they technically pay better, I find single line quarter and dollar machines to be the most boring thing ever but I know a lot of people who would say otherwise.

I play the games that are fun and I win the most money on. Nothing else matters

I play slots for fun and entertainment...and maybe hopefully can get some bonuses. I love all Walking Dead, WOZ and Wonka. Lately I have been I have been into Game of Thrones only because they have been good to me. I have never watched the show.

Great responses. Is it advantageous to always play max coins? My girlfriend (who knows nothing about slots/gambling) will sometimes play a machine or two while I'm at the tables. She'll tell me she's at a penny machine but it takes up to 200 credits per spin (or whatever the number is) and asks me if she should play that much. I believe there is a benefit, at least on most machines, for playing max coins. I know you will play more lines the more you put in but are the payouts different as well as they are in VP?

Some slots you have to play a certain amount to qualify for a bonus or jackpot. Truthfully I've noticed that you hit more bonuses on machine where it doesn't matter with a lower bet. Sometimes the min bet (lets say .50) will hit far more bonuses than at max bet. So if I just love the game and bonus I'll sometimes play lower bets

On progressives and vp. Yes. Others it does not matter much.

Payouts normally don't differ until you get to quarters and up.

First I check in with my slot machine wife Sherry--Triple Double Wild Cherry--and we spend some quality time together.

After that I explore whatever slots are nearby and interesting. I try to check out at least a few new slots each trip.
If my human bride is awake and present we'll do some side-by-side slot action of her choice for awhile.

My denomination used to be quarters, but I'm slowly working my way up the slot DEGEN continuum. I'm now a $1 and $5 MAX SPINner. :D

Could be any number of things that make me chose a slot. The progressive may be near the max or what I perceive to be overdue. There may be yet another Buffalo that I haven't seen before. I can identify the features of a lot of games pretty easily so if I see something with a new twist, I may try it or at least spy on it to see what it does. Then I have some games. mostly Aristocrat themes, that I just like even though they've been out forever. A lot of the decision of where to even play starts with whether the casino is IGT heavy or if they have a decent selection of Aristocrat, Konami and Bally's games.

I love choosing slots that have fun bonuses too, however that is not my intention all the time. I'm just playing slots because it's really entertaining and you don't need to be really skilled to play it, in fact it doesn't require any skills. Well, since there is money involve you might want to be sure that your money won't go wasted. If you are a newbie better to look for slot machines that offer bonus round or offering high bonuses. Never ever overspend for this.

I like a fun bonus, as well. I do have favorites that I purposely seek out - Crystal for one. And the other Aruze games that are similar - Platinum Jackpot, Ultimate Diamond, and The Gold.

I tend to play games by the same company. Some companies seem to just not make my style. Games I can't stop the reels or have to watch the credits add bug me. And there is just a 'feel' to some that I can't do. (even though they seem to pay me well). I like bonus games. I hate reel bell and sevens type games. I watch the youtube videos a lot to see what I want to play as well. If they can't seem to get big wins on what looks like it should be, I won't chase bonus games if it looks fun ( like miss kitty gold, fun game but I haven't seen a good bonus round even with huge wilds, so i will play, but not bet anywhere near max). That panther game seems to pay well but I can't stand it. Couldn't tell you why.

I also play facebook games with real slot machines that are in Vegas. Sure they won't have the newest (though some might, I'm not in Vegas often enough to know, and Canada seems a bit behind on new games) but they tend to be the games that stick. I will play all day on fb for no real money, just because I like slots that much haha. And I can check out the bonus games for nothing instead of chasing them to see what they are.

Most games, no, it doesn't matter if you are betting max. There's the 88 fortune type games though that you need to be playing gold symbols, so I think it's 88c to be eligible for the big progressives. I won the second highest on one just killing time having a smoke before bed playing 88c. Tried it high and can't win a thing haha. You do need to check though. Some are mean that way. And the ones that need max bet tend to be the BIG jackpot games, which I don't really play. I never seem to win at all.

On the rare times I play I will seek out the old reel type games if I can, rather than the video. I like the red/white/blue machines. Simple, I can easily figure why I won/lost. :)

I'll try many of them out, but those that should be titled "20 dollar bill eater" I'll stay away from!

There are actually some without bonus rounds that I seem to do well on, such as Twin Win. I've walked away a winner from those many times.
