so next weekend ( late Feb 25-28 ) would be my very first ever family Vegas trip... with mom, dad and sis...

its their first time in Vegas and i want to take them to a show. we're only there for 3 days so i don't think its possible to do more than one.

i also have to keep in mind that English isnt my mother first language so i'm hoping to do shows where there isnt a lot of talking/ jokes.

i have narrowed it down to David Copperfield or Mystere. what would you pick? also open for other ideas.

    Thanks

Well....I took my family to go see David copperfield over the summer - they all loved it and it's very family friendly show as well. I'm sure mystere show would be good/fine I haven't seen it. One thing, we liked David interacts w people and it was smaller theather which we liked there's also tv screens and we sat on booths that had table - it was VIP section - David actually interacted w my son which he thought was so cool I'm sure either one would be fine.

    Apples/oranges. A Cirque production and a magician.

I haven't seen either show but your above post led me to think Mystere would be more appealing for your mother. It seems to be a more visual show (from what I've read about it).

I'm trying to talk my wife into viewing Mystere together. She doesn't like magic shows so Copperfield is out but I've always wanted to see Mystere.

I would lean towards Mystere - or my favorite LOVE. Copperfield does a good job but we left a bit mixed. There is a fair amount of story telling that would take away from the show for someone without good english skills.

LOVE does have english... but all part of Beatles songs. If you have never seen a cirq show, Mystere is the original and often mentioned as the first one you should see.

    Copperfield for our family.

Mystere is highly regarded, but I just can't get into that type of show. I spent most of the time I watched it wondering what time I could get back to the craps table...

I agree. However, there are a lot of Cirque productions available, not only in Vegas, but all over the world, and (after seeing at least half a dozen cirque shows) I kind of feel that they are all more or less the same (I know some will disagree with me). In contrast, I think David Copperfield's Shows are really unique. I have seen two of his shows live and I loved both of them - and so did my wife, my bother, and my dad.

Another vote for Mystere. The fun is in the actions and there's not a whole lot of talking.

I guess I never voted. Mystere. Love the spectacle and the athleticism.

    Thanks everyone for the votes....

Another random question. Does anyone know approx how much each show is at Tix4tonight? Is it a bit of savings or should I just by the tickets online thru their box office?

Tix4Tonight was a good value. I think we got them half off the day of. And the time we chose wasn't full so they put us in the front row.

My vote is for Mystere - I enjoyed David Copperfield, but like many magicians, boy does he love the sound of his own voice!

Quick side-note: Mystère is one of the earlier ones, but it is not the original (nor even the first one to play in Las Vegas). I forget which strip casino it was, but Nouvelle Expérience was stationed there in a theater for a whole year in the early 90s, after a traveling tour. I'd never seen anything like it; it was amazing. Right after that closed, Mystère opened up and still remains a favourite. It's definitely well worth seeing, of course. :)

...and now back to the thread... :goofy:

Another vote for Mystere, but I wouldn't waste your time with Tix4tonight. My experience with Mystere and T4T saved me maybe a couple bucks and wasted about 1.5 hours of time vs. purchasing directly with CDS, wasn't worth it in the end.
