Just my personal $.02 worth, but the only place I'd stay off that list would be the Orleans. CC is a non-starter, I stayed at Palace Station when I was much younger, and Gold Coast gave me food poisoning. Westgate I have no opinion of.

If you want to venture off-Strip and Downtown isn't an option, try M Resort or Green Valley Ranch.

I am in a bowling league in Phoenix and every April we stay at the Gold Coast for the weekend to have our year end bowling day. It is older but I have always found it clean and comfortable. Rooms have been recently renovated in the last few years. I agree with the above posters on the buffet but Ping Pang Pong is some of the best Chinese I have ever had! Gambling is on the cheap but easy to get comps on food and I am a pretty low end gambler. Last time I went I sat down at the $10 blackjack table and started chatting with the pit boss. After no more than 30 minutes of playing I asked what I could get and he gave me $30 in comps to any restaurant there. Sign up for their players card and you will get mailers once a month or so offering free play and free rooms. I just booked my free weekend in April. Also free parking and the resort fee is just $18.00 or so.

I haven't tried Ping Pang Pong whenever I have stayed or visited the Gold Coast but have ate at the Noodle Exchange and it is great. I usually have a late lunch special and sit at the counter.
The buffet isn't bad in my opinion. With the BConnected card for $8 breakfast is fine. The rooms are clean and comfortable like andym10 mentioned. The casino could use better ventilation though.
It is very smokey and if you are non-smoker like me it can get to after awhile. Other than that I have no problem staying at the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast is good. Stayed there twice. Clean rooms and cheap, edible buffet.

Westgate, good Sports Book. But I don't bet there. I wasn't too impressed when it was LVH. Don't like the area, You can use that tram on that side of Las Vegas Boulevard to go to the strip.

    Palace Station never been

Gold Coast I have been here many times. The new Cornerstone restaurant has very good Prime Rib Sliders and the Crab Cakes were pretty good. Older crowd or in case you are under 30 a VERY older crowd. Took away some Sports Book seating as the horse players are dying off. I have bet at the book lots and lots of times. Ping Pang Pong does not do as much for me as others though. I prefer Noodle Exchange. Huge Bowling Alley(I only bowl by accident). Location is good for shuttle bus to Orleans and High Roller. Or go across street to Rio or Palms. Gold Coast, no bars or lounges but you have the Palms right across the street. Very tiny pool, surrounded by buildings so no sun.

Circus Circus I saw enough of Circus Circus back in the 1980s, and it hasn't really changed.

The Orleans Big Al Oyster Bar go with the white(not red) Clam Chowder. Big casino. Lots of action. Can take the free shuttle to Gold Coast and High Roller.

    I agree with the ratings

    1. Orleans
    2. Gold Coast
    48. Westgate because of their Sports Book
    ?? Palace Station
    999. Circus Jerkus

Have you looked into Palms, Rio or Hard Rock? If its an issue of fitting into the crowd at these places or you think they're too large then I can understand that but these olacws arent as hipster ad in previous decades. Cosmo and Aria have kicked them to the curb. All 3 of these casino hotels have reasonable prices. Rio has become CET's "starter hotel" price wise while both Palms and HR often feature $50-75 weeknights. All three are considerably below Orleans for my April dates

Palms has replaced Rio as my preferred place to stay. Nice rooms and great prices. Easy to park (FREE). Across the street from Gold Coast and Rio. Rio has 2 great strip shuttles if you want to use them (I've taken them many times, they never verify if you are staying at Rio or not).

We stay at the Orleans several times a year. They have recently remodeled and rebranded most of their restaurants except the buffet. We have been to the Bailiwick sports bar / beer pub and Alder Birch steakhouse for happy hour and enjoyed both of them. Both have a nice atmosphere without being pretentious.

If you don't mind exiting the building, there are hundreds of great independent restaurants and bars in the area around the Orleans and Gold Coast that cost maybe half what you would spend inside:
We had one of the best meals in a long time in a little Ethiopian restaurant called Merkato, 1/2 block south of the Orleans on Arville. 2 people could get more than they could possibly finish for around $25. https://www.yelp.com/biz/markato-ethiopian-restaurant-las-vegas
Golden Tiki is a fun polynesian style bar https://www.thegoldentiki.com/

This place is fantastic for Japanese Ramen soup but is tiny and is well worth the wait. It's open late at night: https://www.yelp.com/biz/monta-ramen-las-vegas-2?osq=Ramen

Highly recommended by others for Chinese food but I haven't personally tried it: https://www.yelp.com/biz/chengdu-taste-las-vegas I'm sure there are many excellent Chinese restaurants in Chinatown but I'm still searching for a favorite.

East of the strip, we have had excellent sushi several times here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/sakana-las-vegas

I like having a car to get around to these places but you could also easily use uber or lyft. From the Orleans, you could walk to Merkato in 5 minutes but Spring Mountain Rd (where Golden Tiki and Monta are) is about 2 miles away. Gold Coast/Rio/Palms are in between. https://goo.gl/maps/ctWFwYmPbrC2

Circus Circus has bars all over the property, but then again so does every other resort in Vegas. Circus Circus has one of the best Steak Houses in Las Vegas.

Circus Circus has an indoor amusement park and many performers who have been in Circus acts all over the world.

Primarily if you have a family or you are a kid then Circus Circus caters to you. If you are a 20 something or 30 something then Circus Circus is definitely not a place you want to be.

circus circus is hard to park at and they have kids running around. The buffets at Gold Coast and Palace station are not that good ( but cheap ). Rio next to the Gold Coast has (havent been there in a while) a good buffet. The Palms is changing over to stations casino so is the food going to change ? Last I was there I liked the buffet and the cafe. They had bars/ lounges.
Westgate is a strange bird. Overpriced buffet with not much selections. Not that good deli. They started to charge for parking. They do give free room and dining offers.

I am a fan of GC and Orleans. they have the best pai-gow, poker, decent BJ, most of the staff are decent as well. plenty of dining options and bars. Orleans has a bigger pool. if you are into lower-end buffets, PS is not bad for the price. GC and Orleans are both pretty bland. if you stay at GC, your are also walking distance from the Palms and the Rio.

Never been to Palace Station, GC and Orleans are great if you're older and Bconnected is the most generous players club, Westgate was almost like the Marie Celeste when we visited twice recently and Circus Circus is best avoided due to loads of kids running around! Last month, a reasonably well- dressed man approached us as we sat playing VP and tried to spin us a hard luck story about car repairs at CC. We were only in to buy tickets from tix4 tonite, honest! Outside The STRAT , a less well dressed man hassled two couples as he " spoke " on his phone to his girlfriend, he refused to take no for an answer and they gave in and paid him to go away.

You may want to consider the Silverton . Decent food and rooms , lots of slots and Video Poker , close to the airport . I can recommend a Slot host if you like . Bob

    I would

    3. Palace Station

Remodeled rooms, in towers, are nicer than Orleans and GC. Best video poker of all 5. All night grand cafe has great specials. Free shuttle to fashion show mall. Good play at Palace Station will open up from Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch and 9 other station casinos!

Why not try a stay downtown?
Main Street Station, California and Fremont have no resort fees
and there are lots of things to to within walking distance on Fremont Street.
June rates for Sun. - Friday are $40
I'm staying at MSS again this April.
    I always stay downtown. :woot::beer:
