I was playing crazy 4 card poker and the dealer did not qualify. He was going to pay my ante bet which he should not when he does not qualify. As he was paying it the player next to me tells the dealer that he should not pay it. Now it was only $10 but I would never tell a dealer if he is paying someone when he should not. I feel if it is not my hand It is none of my business. Now if I see a deal not pay a player correctly I will say something.
So am I wrong to think this guys should have stayed quite

I have corrected dealers for my hand or if the should have paid someone else.

But I am always quiet on dealer errors in favor of others.

Yea, that guy should have shut his mouth. I am quite sure I would have quit playing at that table after he decided not to be quiet.

Sorry - the use of quite for quiet has become all too common.

I would not make a comment about another players bet being paid incorrectly to be honest though I usually dont pay that much attention to others I would and have about my own though. Sounds like OP would not have corrected the dealer on the mistake but to each his own.

I think I may have said something snarky right back him...along the lines of, "Yeah - because the casinos need all of the help they can get."

    Total fail on gambling etiquette.

Similar happened to me 2 weeks ago. Playing extra bet BJ and the dealer must not have known the rules at all. She insisted she only took commission if she won, and she was going to allow me to extra bet my ace. As I was putting out the full 5x the guy next to me starts complaining that the previous dealer charged him commission and insists the pit boss comes over because he was wants a refund for the $1 he was charged 3 times on losses on his commission. Boss blows up the whole thing and dealer flips me a face card. Dammit!

Yeah and don't get me started on "loose vs lose" especially from gamblers.

Take a look at all the millennials on the board that can't distinguish there, their and they're or your and you're. 5th grade stuff. Sometimes it's almost incomprehensible.

I watch my own money. The casino pays people to watch their money. If I don't do my job I lose money. If the casino staff doesn't do their job the casino loses money. When I get a paycheck from the casino I'll start watching their money.

I hate when people do this. Finding bad dealers at carny games is a great way to extend your play. It boggles my mind that people want to help the dealer. They are taking your money. The house has their edge. That's fine, I know that when I sit down. But if they do a bad job dealing the game, it's not my problem.

I once watched a player teach an ultimate holdem dealer how to set the best five card hand complete with teaching them to turn the losing cards so they could always tell what their best hand was. I wanted to take the person outside and yell WHAT ARE YOU DOING????

For pai gow players out there - how many times has a smarty-pants (being nice) player corrected the dealer when they set the hand improperly and then you push or lose. Or when a player yells out the dealer's hand before he/she sets it!!! That's infuriating... I agree with the OP, clam up if it's not your own $$$

A few years ago, me and a couple of friends were all playing at the same UTH table. Board had a full-house and all players had trips bets out. So, the dealer starts paying everyone their trips bet, plus the ante/play if their kicker was higher than hers.
It was as if she thought the board only had two-pair, but she was paying the trips bets on a full-house.
Anyway, this one guy at the table with one of his friends gets paid, and then - realizing that something's not right - starts to say something. His buddy throws an elbow at him and says "STFU!" (only he didn't use initials).
The pit then comes over and asks if there's a problem, and both of them say, "No...no problem at all."
Amazingly, the pit looks at the board...at the dealer's two cards and at our hands and payouts... and simply moves on.
Now - here's the kicker. The dealer actually had a higher full-house than the board! And both she and the pit missed it!

If the dealer makes a mistake on a hand that screws a fellow player, I'd say something while also making sure not to be an ass about the dealer erring. They're human too. I've never had this happen as generally on any mistake, the player that has money on the line notices it pretty quickly.

If a dealer makes a mistake that helps a fellow player, I don't say a damn word. Not my place. I've had this happen on several occasions, and every time they'll exchange a smirk or knowing glance with others at the table.

When a dealer errs in my favor and I notice it, I point it out. While I certainly don't think the house needs any extra help, I also don't want the dealer to get in any kind trouble after the fact. I play BJ primarily, and in my experience the most common mistake the dealer makes is paying out a push- so I'm not actually "losing" money. I know I, like most people, am thankful when someone tosses me a little help at work, so I have no qualms helping the dealer when it only affects me.
