Wife and I are booked at The Cal and DTG for Sat-Tues this week. Checked the weather, looking like sunny low 70's. We're from WI, kinda nuts and haven't been in a pool for awhile. Thinking about a cheap room at the GN on Monday to use the pool Mon and Tues. Anyone been in the pool there when its not hot out?

    TIA.

I remember swimming there about five years ago when it was in the low 70's and overcast. The pool was cool but not cold, and it was still fun to swim with the sharks. If you have sun, that would definitely help! Love your name, sconnie ... I'm also a Wisconsite and my bil is part owner of a place with the same name :)

Born and raised a Sconnie. Previous house had a 1 car detached garage that never saw a car. Total party room, Tiki bar, full stocked bar, mini-fridge, 27" TV with cable, small humidor for my stogies and a propane heater made it the perfect year round place to hang out. Name? Sconnie Breeze, take off of Bama Breeze as sung about by The Bard, aka Jimmy Buffet.

High temp early next week is supposed to be low 70's and sunny, pool's supposed to be heated. Sounds like a perfect place to hang out and drink a few beers, no? :)

Is there some reason you don't want to use the pool at DTG?

DTG pool was open when we were there 2 weeks ago. Didn't seem too cold, someone was swimming in it.

Be sure GN pool is open if you decide to go that route. Was down for maintenance 2 weeks ago. I got pimped once by their "scheduled" maintenance before, they were not very up front about it or accommodating.

Sconnie, it's WI Sue again ... you are a tribute to Wisconsin, using your one-car garage as a party house while your vehicle sat outside in the tundra! Many people don't care for the Nugget but I've found it to work very well for us. I go with either gf's or husband and we get the room and some slot play and food comped. I've read other members' posts about coin-in at other casinos and realize what a good deal I'm getting for my play. And several years ago I checked in at the host office and was treated very well by a young, upcoming host. I always email him before a trip and he comps a room in the Gold Tower. And there's a fruit plate waiting for us when we get back to the room on the first night :) Pretty good for a gambler that wouldn't get more comps at a Boyd casino. If you do decide on the Nugget, request the casino rate. And always stop at the host office early on your last night (before you eat your final meal in case you have additional comps). And be sure to take advantage of the happy hour at Grotto (even on weekends ... at 10:30) plus the other restaurants. PM me if you'd like the name of my host.

I have used the pool at GN several times, as recently as 3 months ago (November). it is usually surprisingly warm. Now it isn't so warm that you would confuse it with a hot tub, but is always warmer than I think it will be.

Thanks Sue. We did the Jefferson and moved to a much larger and nicer house 2 years ago this week. Love the new digs but miss "Sconnie Breeze" for sure!

We're Boyd gamblers, never pay for rooms or most of our food (assuming that we decide to eat at 777, MSS Buffet or Cal Coffee shop). We do stay at the GN during pool season and since we haven't been "wet" in months, we were going to try out the pool at the GN on Monday and Tues before leaving for the airport. Since the DTG pool is also open, will probably cancel the GN reservation, don't need 3 rooms Mon night, even if 2 are free!

No hate for the GN, just appreciate Boyd properties downtown. I got a free room at the DTG in the mail, booked it for Mon and Tues so that we have a room all day Tues before flying home in afternoon.

Looking forward to meeting up with two high school buddies who are major Badger fans on Sat! One lives in N Vegas and works for Black Gaming in Mesquite and the other is out in Vegas with his wife just for fun. Gonna tear DT up a bit on Sat night, looking to "Teach Them How To Bucky"!
