I received my latest March/April mailer today from MSS. Back up to 4 nights and the freeplay increased from $30 to $50. At one time, years ago, our freeplay used to be $100. But, maybe that is just a cut back by Boyd.

I don't use the room offer mailers, I go through a host, but I look at it as a measure as a customer, or is it how big a loser I am.

I also received my March 4Q offer and that has been cut back to two nights and a reduction from $100 in FP to $60. I'm not shocked, actually surprised. We only give them 4-5 hours of VP and almost that is only on one day.

I am going from 4 nights 35$ free play in January to 3 nights 25$ free play in February. Went in January and the host said "marketing; they are really so out of touch I don't know. Don't worry about it just call me first."
    So I did.

Joe (or anyone else who may know)- is MSS more stingy with comps than the Cal? I'm staying at MSS 1 night to see if I want to make it my downtown casino but like the cal just as well. Didn't know if I should go cal or mss to start out seeing as how I like them both.

I don't know the answer, but I have been considering a change. the Fremont is where I get my free rooms but now that the Cal has remodeled rooms, I may look into it.

While the Fremont is downtown it seems that the Cal and MSS are linked more closely. I get offers mostly from MSS (home casino) but also get offers for their joint VP, Slot tourneys etc. with choice of either property to stay. I ask a host last time if on my next offer from MSS she could switch me to Cal for the free nights. She said she could and to call when I get my offer (for May). So on another post that someone tried to get switched to Fremont and couldn't do. While all 3 are sister casinos I believe that Fremont is the step sister.

My offers at MSS also dropped to 3 nights, $50 FP and $40 in food March. Wife's at the Cal, 2 nights Sunday thru Thursday, no food or FP. We always split our stays between the 2 for NASCAR in March, but when I went to book the rooms in Nov. that week was sold out Wednesday thru Friday both places. Talked our host at the Cal and she said things are getting tight DT. She did hook me up with a host at Suncoast that got us 2 nights at rate. Damn we dropped some coin in December at both places. So now Suncoast Thursday and Friday, MSS Saturday to Tuesday.

I also don't know the answer. I look at Cal and MSS as one property. If fact for our upcoming trip I told our MSS host to book us in the West Tower at Cal. Those remodeled rooms look nice.
Just a FYI if VP is your game. After the remodel job at Cal, they really lowered their bartop paytables. I don't know about floor machines, but I know I'll never play at their bartops again. But, that is why the connecting bridge is so convenient to just walk over to MSS.

Yes, MSS and Cal are more or less like one property. But Fremont is separated.
Interestingly I got three different offers from them.

I can explain the 4Q situation since this happened last year. Their offer is only for March. When they have one month offers instead of bi-monthly, the FP is 75% of the normal amount. Mine is normally $300 and is now $225 for March but I'm certain it will back to $300 if the next offer is for April/May. I'm thinking that your FP is normally $80 (instead of $100) since their normal progression is $80, $200, $300, and whatever is above me. I have a buddy who normally gets $80 and his is $60 for March. I do know that the rooms have been reduced for everyone at the $80 back to two nights which I don't like. This happened a few months ago and I'm not sure if the March only offer has any effect on the rooms like it does for FP. My buddy generally uses comp dollars to pay an extra night so he is not out of pocket for a three night stay.
