We are going to Seattle in July and staying downtown. I never had any intention of renting a car, but with my room reservation came a note that overnight parking, including taxes and fees was $39!!!!

Never been to Seattle but that's not out of the ordinary for a big city.

Big city, tight spaces, standard practice (actually kinda low compared to some).

I live in Seattle and that isn't too bad, there is a big push here to stop making new parking spots with new buildings, so as the demand for parking goes up the supply is not going up, therefor the cost of parking is going up. you should Uber/Lyft everywhere, unless you are road-tripping its much much cheaper, even if you are going from downtown seattle to talalip casino and back everyday (35 miles and solid hour or more each way in typical traffic), it will be cheaper to Uber than it will be to rent a car.

Yep... those places with lots of people packed in high-rises get that... and more... all the time. I (well the company) generally pays $25-$50 and anywhere in between when I go to those kinds of cities.

With minimum wage in Seattle at $15 that seems right on point. Hotels need to pay everyone more and need to bring in revenue from somewhere.

For those who wish to find cheaper parking, check out the Spot Hero app. I've used it in NYC, Phily and Chicago.

I was a speaker for a legal conference in Hawaii last May. I parked at one of the structures at around 7:00 a.m. and finished up at about 4:00 p.m. I get to the booth, and $85 shows up on the meter. WTF? Are you freaking serious? It's not like they washed and waxed my rental car. There were about 20 cars waiting to get out the garage behind me so I just paid for it and learned my lesson.

Well some people seem to think that's an outlier and Vegas leads the market on parking fees. I tried to say as an example look at San Diego which have been charging high parking fees for years. It is new for Vegas and old news for most major cities.

Never say anything bad about Las Vegas parking again. Cheap, cheap, cheap. With players card, free.

Hopefully it was not actually 10$ and they added taxes and fees which totaled 39$. Any resort fees? Yikes!!

Yes that's kinda on the low side.
