I want to spend some time working in my room every morning during this trip to handicap the games for the day. I was thinking of bringing my laptop because it's a lot easier for me to work on my laptop in a quiet place than using my ipad.

My obvious question is how much do they charge for wifi and is it fast or slow?

Also should I be nervous having my laptop in my room? I don't want it to be stolen, I never trust the maid service anywhere so I usually just have my ipad and lock it in the safe.

never had problem with leaving out at any hotel. Yeh all the no resort fee hotels charge the $10 a day for wifi. Not the fastest. I usually just use for 1 day to ccatch up on things and sign into SW for flight home

Thank you, since my rooms are comped I was thinking of just paying for the wifi if it's not free.

At GG you could use their wifi which is include with the room. At Fremont you probably could use the free City wifi called LV.net (if the signal is available in your room). If not available in your room go outside move around in the casino and the signal should be attainable.

Your comp covers the wifi. Don't remember the size of the safe at GG (or even if they one for that matter), but you could always lock it up in your suitcase if you're paranoid about it (or have do not disturb on door). Free wifi available at McDonalds across the street at Plaza. The place is my favorite hangout. Friends with most of the bar staff, cw and many of dupar's staff. They all are such friendly people, hope you enjoy yourself

I don't know much about the wi-fi service at the Fremont, but I can tell you, your laptop will not fit in the safe. It may hold a tablet or ipad, but none too large.

The suites in the Gate are large enough to hold a laptop. I wasn't sure if the comp would cover the wifi, so I just used my (T-Mobile) phone as a hotspot. Never tried to see if the free downtown wifi worked, the hotspot was more secure. Good luck!

The "free" WiFi is way too spotty to use at GG...I always stay there on comps - which means I do have to pay the $10...but, with no resort fee on their comps, I'm ok with buying WiFi... and speed is good...not fantastic or anything - but workable...I want to say it was about 10-12MBS.

I normally stay at Fremont because of the central location and the comp rooms. I don't think I've ever been able to get a usable LV.net signal from the room, no matter how close to the canopy. However, the LV.net signal is really strong in the casino by the entrance closest to Binion's and Golden Nugget.

Just use your phone and make it a hotspot. Save you some cash and you can connect even 3 devices for free. Your laptop should be OK just put a not disturb sign but consequence would be your room will not be cleaned.

I ended up just taking my Ipad and I'm glad I did because neither room had a desk to set up a laptop. I had to pay the $10 a day at both hotels but that's ok because I was prepared to do that.
