I will pay for a buffet if it is reasonable. and really, I don't get my money's worth compared to most I suppose. i may be a fatboy, but I cant eat a lot in one sitting. i can eat several times a day, smaller meals. i just cant stand that stuffed feeling. but one of these days... i will try Bacchanal or Bellagio buffet.

IMO the Bellagio Buffet is fantastic and last I checked $10-15 less, even before this price increase.

i used to LOVE vegas buffets
had to eat at a buffet at least once per trip
    i love variety + i eat a lot = buffet

    loved Bacchanal buffet
    ate there 3 times
and ranked it #1 over all other vegas buffets

however, i realized that i could actually have a very nice meal at a nice restaurant for the money i was spending at Bacchanal
plus i didn't want to always stuff myself with food (eating at a buffet gives me extra pressure to eat even more)
so i have avoided eating at a buffet in vegas for the past .... 7-8 trips and have opted for nicer sit down restaurants such as Carnevino (my favorite), Delmonico, Guy Savoy (that was a huge splurge), Giada, etc.

I am sure that is the reason behind the change (no more breakfast pricing). This was my strategy too! Your BFF is very smart:beer::feedme:

Funny you mention this hammie. Though, I have not been on the buffet trail nearly as much as before, I do have trip planned to the Bacchanal at the end of this month. Previously, I have done a walk-through of it and came away impressed with the offerings. However, it is reaching the limit of what is price-point acceptable.
A key component of paying top dollar is seafood offerings. I will be curious to see how Bacchanal stacks up against, say high-quality seafood spreads I have sampled on the east coast. One disappointment with Vegas buffets has been the overcooking and saltiness of said seafood. Other than Bally's brunch, I've done every top of the line buffet in town and there exists an ignorance to the proper technique and serving method for seafood.
Prime rib is prime rib and one can get that nearly anywhere. I'll put the $9.95 prime at the Cal coffee shop up against nearly any Vegas buffet. Yes, I will try the Bacchanels, but not get wrapped up in it.
Chicken and pork - I usually stay clear of because of limited value, unless the Bacchanel can take me on an adventure. What I will be looking for are items like lamb chop, veal or beef tenderloin?
I hear the dessert are outstanding, but so too are places like Bellagio and Wynn. Vegas buffets have mastered buffets probably as well as anywhere in the country.
Anyway, I will report back in a couple weeks on my findings.

I'm wondering if they don't "overcook" for safety reasons? I almost always get overcooked seafood in restaurants. (Maybe it's just me?)

If I boil peel and eat shrimp at home, they hit the boiling pot for about 10-12 seconds, and then hit the ice water bath.

Vegas buffets are getting pricier. But I still somewhat tolerate these prices because I factor the vacation mentality into it. Vacations are for indulging and doing special things you don't normally do in daily life.

I also don't think of getting my money's worth by how much I eat (volume) but rather how much I get to sample and enjoy smaller portions of many foods. To me this is the true value of a buffet.

But getting back to Bacchanal raising their prices? Yes, I can't see why they raised it so much but it's because I've tried it before and know what kind of foods they offer. So with that in mind I have no problem never visiting again.

But I'd try similar priced buffets that I've never experienced yet, that's one of the fun things of visiting Vegas that I look forward to.

No, not for safety reasons - it is the mentality of buffet cooks prepping stuff yoo far in advance. It might be okay for turkeys, beef roasts or chicken. Not so with seafood. It needs to be treated much differently. Another major problem with Vegas seafood is the extreme saltiness, especially of crab legs.

I ate here once and they sat us at a table that was more cramped than at any other restaurant I can remember. Denny's would've been embarrassed by how they wedged these tables together. We didn't ask to be moved because we'd already waited for 45 minutes just to get in.

It also irks me when I see people piling plates and plates of crab legs and realizing this is what I'm subsidizing with the stupid high price. Same goes for other buffets, but it's especially obvious here.

I really think these higher end buffets should offer a seafood and non-seafood price, which I think Rio did for a while. Would require different logistics, but I'm sure they can find room in their budget if they cared enough to. Unfortunately it's popular as is, so no reason for them to change.

    Will not be going back.

Here is an article which mentions the shortage of snow crab and higher prices at a casino in Mississippi ($6 per lb. last year and $8 per lb. this year). Looks like they go through about 3,000 lbs. a week. Also, it mentions they pay $4 per lb. for shrimp from Argentina. What would Forest Gump say?

Can you stay all day at Bacchanal or do they kick you out after a certain amount of time?

Can you leave, get a stamp (or whatever), and come back?

    There's a 2 hour time limit.

Since the bathrooms are located outside the buffet, I'm sure you could tell the servers that you may be away from the table for an extended period of time due to severe diarrhea and go your merry way for a bit, but I'm not sure how much good that would do you with a 2 hour time limit.

If there is an hour+ wait to get in the buffet then they're charging too little. It's America. No one is making you go to the buffet.

Stay all day at the buffet??

    C'mon man.

That's why I was asking. Never been. Plus I'm a small dude and fill up easy so it just doesn't make sense if I cant make 2 or 3 meals out of it.

Sorry, bro. Assumed you were a big eater trying to eat more than your share. You see some crazy shit at the buffets.

IMAO, this buffet is now not worth it, in terms of price and in terms of the time waiting on line. You can get a far better meal in countless sit-down restaurants for less than this one!
