Did ever hear pilot announce stay in your seats until baggage unloaded?

I couldn't imagine what the plane was carrying that was hazardous.. Well talking to some friends in the United airlines forums, apparently some 737's but not limited to them can tip backwards if passengers deplane before that tail load is removed. I have NEVER heard of this after all of these years of flying.

It is not just a United issue. From what I have read, United is getting tail stands deployed to all of their stations. It seems to be an issue with only the 737-900, which makes sense as that is the longest model.

Yep. Last flight I was on the pilot announced just this, and for the reason described. The whole plane chuckled and stayed in their seats, though a few people wanted to rush up to the front just to see what would happen.

The planes that are tipping must not be from Europe. Those guys never tip, they don't understand the custom :)
