wondering when can get best rates coming for a Monday through Friday.....between March and May? Would like to stay on strip somewhere decent but we are frugal....looking at excalibur, circus circus, nyny, luxor.....around that price. We enjoy walking and would also like ideas for couple shows to see? And reasonable but good buffets or restaurants? We don't really gamble but some slots. We are in mid 40s if that makes any difference.....

Please any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Greg

#1 Suggestion: Pull up the monthly rate calendars for a handful of those hotels. Rates can vary WIDELY from one week or day to the next.
#2 Scroll down through these boards. You will find a ton of ideas for shows, food, etc. Way more than you will get from a few responses here
#3 Take Circus Circus off your list - after that, they all will work
#4 Look at air prices as they will vary as well

Again, go back to #1 - that will rule certain weeks out. Any you may find a week that you can stay at an even nicer hotel for less money. And, if you do come in on Sun or Mon, and leave by Friday morning, you will get the best rates.

book any cancable rate ur happy with and keep shopping ,i would stay away from circus circus and ny is better then luxir if u must slum

try an orbitz search to see the rates then go to hotel directly

get hotel first , then worry about shows as i see ur budget concious so u will probaly be doing t4 tonight or groupon or travelzoo

If you have no casino rewards status and aren't an airlines rewards member then there aren't really many secrets to be had, your best bet for a resort/flight package is probably Orbitz or something similar.

If you want to individualize the hotels and flights, you can sign up for Caesars and MGM's emails; they will bombard you with marketing but there may be some useful room rate nuggets in there. You may also want to check out some of the slightly off-strip spots unless you just HAVE to be on-strip. Places like Tuscany or Rio or even Palms now that they are Stations might have good deals. Don't forget to factor in resort fees to your budget.

Flights-wise I find Google Flights is a good resource and you can set up email alerts with it to get you price drops, but frankly if you're looking March-May you'd better get to booking petty quickly, prices for that time frame are probably not going to drop much at this point.

Also agree with the very wise nostresshere, REMOVE Circus Circus from your search. Just trust us.

I guess when I said frugal I'm flexible somewhat want something decent so can pay what need to for that. Will have rental car also. Shows wife is considering is one of the Cirq shows and blue man group. Have been looking on kayak, Orbitz, etc for package with air.....probably flying out of Baltimore /DC area.

If a pool is important to you I would narrow my choices with that in mind. NYNY doesn't have much of a pool. or so I gather, and Monte Carlo's is being overhauled.

Ladies getaway, somewhere on the strip with a pool :)

i've been regularly checking rates for 6 nights in April at the Vdara... for about the last 3 months.
i've not noticed any great deals, prices have stayed pretty stable all this time. I'm hoping a good offer is released soon!

I noticed that more 4 stars and higher type hotel prices are pretty much same throughout the year.. unless you have mlife platinum level or higher then gets decent discounnt. Try to contact them directly see if their quote rate may be lower? My buddy tried that with CET property and actually got a better deal on the phone!!!

March April and May in the spring are very busy and prices are pretty stable. The best bet as people have mentioned is book a price you are comfortable with for 6 nights and hope it goes down and re-book. . If it hasn't sold out a couple weeks prior they may have a "sale"....Good Luck

AVOID Circus Circus! After that, check Vegas.com for prices, shows, etc. They have everything covered including plane/hotel combo deals. Maybe not THE cheapest route, but all the info is there handily!

Edit your post to remove Circus Circus. Don't subject yourself to 5 days of regret.

Greg, This may seem a little weird but you should do the following:
    1) Enrol for an MLIFE card membership on mlife.com
    2) Go to your Facebook account and look up MyVegas app (slots).
    3) From there, start playing the slots frequently (using the 'free' coins), and build up the Reward Credits that the system is designed for. You will see that there are rewards for the points, and one of those rewards will be cheap rooms for various MGM properties. On low value months, you can pick up a room for as low as US$40 a night, plus the resort fee of around US$35. Excalibur, Luxor, Monte Carlo should be on the top of your list if you are considering this, and ALL these Hotels are on the strip and allow you to walk the 4 mile exercise trip between Mandalay Bay and Stratosphere (should you venture that far North when walking). I think 1,500 Rewards Credits will get you into the special rates category.
    4) Alternatively, having the MLIFE card will allow you to get a Casino Rate potentially, so on a low week period, you'll get a decent rate. Monday - Thursday is the sweet spot for rates. Friday - Sunday is the most expensive, so your dates for planning look sound to me.
    5) The MyVegas program allows you to also trade in the Rewards Credits for 2 for 1 buffets at Bellagio, Aria and Mirage - all having the reputation as top buffet places.

April is a month to probably avoid, as it's Easter (rates are higher) and a Major Convention is in town and 100,000 people descend on the town. Hotel rates are stacked up in multiples. After the 28th April is a good time to start looking, or during March.

For Shows, sometimes being frugal doesn't work for the quality of performances you can see in Vegas. Look up Tix4tonight online and when you get to Vegas, visit their nearest shop to your location (could be opposite the casino next to a large Coke bottle if you stay at Monte Carlo or Luxor/Excalibur). They would have tickets being sold for up to half price for same day shows. This means you can get a deal to watch Cirque du Soleil's "KA" which is excellent, and so many other fantastic shows. This would include Blue Man group (though that suits more the children however it's still fun to experience for the first time). For me, the best show on the Strip is Absinthe, but I'm British and simply love this level of humour. It's really rather in your face, so if you're never experienced it, go for it. If you don't want the piss ripped out of you, don't sit in the front !!

As you wish to walk around the place, you can also pick up deals through American Casino Guide 2017 Edition - Get this book through Amazon. It will have a multitude of vouchers you can use during your stay around the strip. I think I paid US$12.50 for the book last week. This may have deals for restaurants as well, but as you are in Vegas, perhaps reserve one night for a really nice place.

Lastly, see if you can book an evening guided tour of the Neon Museum downtown. This is meant to be nostalgic and excellent, and you can time this in with your visit downtown to see the free Freemont Experience in the evening. Food in downtown is always more reasonably priced, and the slots (if that's what you play) are said to be 2-3% better payouts (i.e. over 90% whereas the Strip seems to be 88% for those 1 cent and other machines under $1).

Hope you have tremendous fun planning the trip, as that is just as entertaining. I'm there in April for practically the whole Month. Vegas...no other place like it in the world.

Go to caesars.com, select Las Vegas as destination, click "My Dates are flexible", pick a start month and click search. You'll get a comparison calendar of nightly rates at all the Total Rewards properties, all but one of which are on the strip. If you sign up for players cards online and login and search, the rates may even come down a few bucks a night. The rates for Bally's, Harrah's, Linq, and Flamingo will give you a good baseline for the lower end of strip prices for your dates.

For mid 40's non gamblers you may find Bally's or Paris to be your speed. Good sized rooms, centre strip, affordable.

If you book direct through the hotel on a non-promotional rate, you can keep checking, and cancel or rebook if rates go down.

    Hi there,

Check out the TI. They are offering a couple of promotions, one is their TV ad which waives the resort fee and parking is stilll free. I think they are also offering the bogo room night promotion as well and that looks like a good deal also.

Their location is perfect for being on the strip. Lots of food options nearby, if you don't like what is offered inside the TI.

    Good luck

Everything that has been mentioned is great advice. I would only add that you should have an exact budget since that is an important point. Saying frugal means something different to everyone. In addition narrow down the decision to one place, ie. south strip, north strip, downtown, etc. If youre all over the place its impossible to finalize your plans. Once you have a budget and location nailed down, post back and everyone can give you advice.

From your list above NYNY would be my suggestion, but if you want mid strip then TI is a great option! NO CIRCUS CIRCUS PLEASE.

Agree. I find NYNY is about the best value for your dollar place on the strip. The rooms are small but always comfy and clean, the resort doesn't have all the amenities of the larger properties but it's a ton of fun and has a great vibe, and the few resto/bar options they have are pretty great. And if you get bored with the place MGM with its 9 billion bars and restos are right across the foot bridge.

I'm on a CET properties kick right now (they keep giving me free rooms) but I've stayed at NYNY 6 times in the past and never had a bad experience.

I got an email on Friday about CET's "big sale" -- I just went to the Total Rewards website without signing in, and rates are good at the beginning and end of May at Rio, Harrah's and Flamingo -- as low at $39/night. So is the week of April 16. Might be worth a look.

I'm a Vegas newbie but I really enjoyed NYNY. I was very unimpressed with Luxor and thought Circus Circus wasn't somewhere I would ever stay. If I had to make the same decision I would choose NYNY in a heartbeat.

Thanks for all the great replies......we have decided on Monday through Friday of April 3rd to 7th. Now debating if better to stay on strip or downtown or off strip for best room. We will have a car so that will be easier.

I would suggest on the strip (central) if possible. Its just more enjoyable and a lot more things going on. Plus you have access to a lot of great food and entertainment. Im not sure what the big hype is about downtown (flame suit on). Its old and depressing. And off strip has always been off putting to me, I would like to be in the center of the action. MHO.
