What to do during the day Saturday and Sunday?

8 days in Vegas - most of them fully booked with lots of shows, a couple tours. We're joining other family members for most of the time. BUT we have Saturday and Sunday (daylight hours only) free. No wheels (don't have them and don't want to pay to park them.) These are our last two days. We are seeing Diana Ross Saturday night and Le Reve Sunday night. We are at Westgate (concierge level) for the weekend and will have monorail passes.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO DURING THE DAY?

We usually do a week in Vegas. Only a few shows, no tours. Only tour we ever did in 15+ visits is helo to Grand Canyon. And, no longer rent a car - too much hassle.

We usually sleep in a bit. Then head off to late breakfast or early lunch. We walk - alot. We have been known to walk from M-Bay all the way to Mirage. During this time, we do not play much (wife does only minimal VP play). We stop here or there for a drink or snack. Wander through hotels and shops. Watch people. We do this multiple days in a row. Really, walk, eat, drink can eat up many days.

Now sure about your time with family, but I am guessing you will feel liberated not dealing with a group once they leave. Whenever we do family or friends, we make it very clear that we all have some time on our own to explore, play, etc. And then times we meat to eat or do shows.

 

Any Vegas resort with an indoor pool & spa that sell day passes? That actually could work. Help?

 

Drink and gamble

 

Can't think of an indoor pool. There are some year round ones, but think they are outdoors but heated.

 

Good time for some day drinking.

 

No car limits your options definitely, especially with no pool options in February. Perhaps a spa if you are into that.

 

On the greater subject of things to do, the main thing would be wandering.

You could tour the Shark Reef aquarium at MB (monorail to MGM, cross bridges to Excal, tram to MB). They are about $20 each or a fairly cheap myvegas comp if you play.
You could uber or bus downtown and check out the Mob Museum
Mac King has a daytime comedy magic show on the cheap at Harrah's
You could shop at any number of places
Helicopter to GC (pricey) or bus to Hoover dam could be possible.

And those are just the non gambling non drinking suggestions.

You could also spend 5 hours saying no to a timeshare salesperson.

 

Never foreclose on an option when traveling.

The Strip is a known quantity -- gambling, shows, food, pools, shopping, spa, getting drunk, walking around. There's also the taxi-downtown-or-to-XYZ-casinos thing.

Me? (Hey, you asked.) I'd rent a car, even just a day rental so there will be no indignity of paying a few bucks to park it. Head out with some of the familia and check out a gorgeous part of the country, particularly that -- if the weather is OK -- a few hours north up in southern Utah. If that's too far, you can run a fun loop around Vegas -- the dam, up the lakeshore to VofF, Red Rock Canyon, hit a locals casino or three, drop off the car, back to the hotel.

Hubby likes that suggestion.

 

Spa is on my short list, but it doesn't work for hubby.

 

Enjoy a few hours at Canyon Ranch Spa at Venetian - visitor rates are reasonable, lunch at Bouchon, walk around St. Mark's square, continue down the strip - Linq, High Roller, Paris, etc. til you are tired then hop the monorail back to Westgate.

Do the west side of the strip starting at TI or Mirage, Caesar's, Bellagio fountains and Conservatory, Art Gallery, lunch at Olive's or Lago, next Cosmo Chandelier bar maybe lunch here if not Bellagio, Aria/Crystals, NYNY, crossover to MGM and monorail back to Westgate.

That's exactly how we're handling things with this group. We have several show reservations and two tours together, otherwise everyone is on their own. We wanted some couple time, so we're staying three days longer than the others. Concierge level for free breakfast and cocktail hour before we head out to our shows. I appreciate all the daytime suggestions and I'll plug a few options into my spreadsheet.

DAMN! I was never got to see him live. I listen to his stuff virtually every day.

 

When in Vegas the days don't really matter as you can drink and gamble any day.
