Wife and I will be visiting in June, and we are unsure of which hotel to choose. We'll be doing half of our stay at either MGM or Mirage, then completing the rest at our home hotel (Cosmopolitan). Can you shed some light on pros and cons of either of them?

Let's see if this way makes sense, so June which would be hot likely very so with that mind I would pick Mirage you would be right in the center of strip vs MGM which is little further down where you might have to do some walking if you wanna go to strip (which I'm sure you might not want to do) I remember mirage pool was pretty nice it had tropical theme to it.. I did hear MGM has a nice pool too. Good hunting, price of rooms should be similar right?

I'd need a little more information before I can make a recommendation.

Are you driving? If so, then either is OK, but if you're not, and you want to travel up and down the strip, the monorail at MGM is convenient for all the casinos on the east side of the strip.

I think MGM has Mirage beat as far a restaurants go. It's a much larger property. Emeril's is my one of favorite restaurant in LV and is at MGM.

Are you seeing a show? Ka is the featured show at MGM, Beatles: Love and Terry Fator are playing at the Mirage.

    IMHO, MGM pros
Size, variety of gaming, variety of restaurants

    Mirage Pros
Location, closer to the center of the strip
A more "intimate" casino, but still big enough that you won't get bored.

Run the room choices on oyster.com to see what you like best. I would personally rather stay at Mirage, BUT their (Mirage) basic rooms don't have floor-to-ceiling windows. Plus, if you get the basic, basic room, it's a pretty, but tiny bathroom...with a shower curtain. A few dollars more gets you the tower room, with a separate tub and walk-in shower. (I don't need a big room, but a shower curtain bugs me.)

The reason PERSONALLY would pick Mirage is that I love the beautiful atrium of Mirage and the gorgeous fish tank behind check-in, but these might not matter someone else.

Also, since you're already at Cosmo, you can hit surrounding properties at Cosmo, and then have a "whole new trip" once you hit Mirage, as you'll be on a totally different part of the strip.

Either should be solid, I just would check out photos online first, to see what you prefer.

That would assume they would drive to each casino. Back when we did rent, we usually did not drive up and down the strip anyways - too much drinking and/or hassle.

Back to the question - difficult to answer. I like both for some of the reasons mentioned above. From MGM, it is pretty easy to get to a handful of casinos - though they are all Mlife associated. Lots of food and stuff to do. Mirage does have our favorite show - LOVE - which we always attend. And, less restaurant choices, but good ones. Mirage has nice pool, and MGM has a massive pool complex. Probably like the Mirage one better though.

    Could go either way.

I find MGM Grand to be a dark and cold atmosphere. The Mirage is much more lively and vibrant. The pool area is so peaceful and "island like" that you should feel more comfortable there. The mid-strip location makes it so convenient to walk a few blocks in any direction to have completely different experiences. The Mirage rooms are very contemporary but unless you are comparing to some highly upgraded ones at MGM Grand, you won't be giving up micj at all. Actually, your Cosmo room will be nicer tham the standard ones at these other two anyway.

MGM in a heartbeat for me.

    Better pool at MGM.
Rooms are comparable - but MGM's bathrooms are much bigger. Mirage's tiny bathrooms drive me crazy.
    Casinos are comparable.
I find I get better customer service at MGM, but that could just be me getting lucky.

For me the MGM is just to DAMN BIG! You can walk a few miles just going from one side of the property to the other.

MGM. For pointers your already on side of Cosmopolitan so why stay at Mirage on second half of trip. This way you can get out and explore other side and have a good reason...Plus the lazy floating river at the MGM is the bomb. I'm not a strip guy but when we stay we do one side one day other next and vise versa for days were there...It just fits us well so we can see everything and not have to rush

I would go with the Mirage. Can't beat the location and one of the best pools on the strip. I might be a little biased here but they have always taken great care of my wife and I for over 15yrs.

    MGM is mostly younger people.

I used to love the MGM Grand. Now it seems 90% under 40, and probably 75% under 30.

I agree that age is the most important factor here.
If you feel young (not "Young at Heart", lol), go to MGM; otherwise, go to Mirage.

Personally I enjoy the strip location at Mirage much better than MGM. Love the pool at Mirage too. Been a while since we stayed there but always go by for a sandwich at Carnegie Deli !

It's all subjective of course but I'll almost always take a smaller hotel/casino over a larger one. MGM is very nice but I don't like the size. Too much chaos in that place. Good variety of restaurants but you don't have to stay there to eat there. IMHO you can't go wrong either way but I'd take Mirage.

You definitely run into more famous people at the MGM but the Mirage is more sedated and I would much rather be closer to the northern end of the Strip.

Both are showing their age but MGM less so. I feel like MGM has everything where as Mirage relies on its neighbors.

Why move? It'll just waste most of a day.
