After reading so many great reviews on this property and visiting during a November trip, I decided to use the room offer they sent that included $125.00 free play. I wanted to exclusively stay there, but when I emailed Kevin about allowing me to use my offer on Saturday instead of coming in on Sunday, he replied with a very short.. No, we can't accommodate that request. I was a little taken by how short he was, but anyway I'm hopeful. I made the same call to the SLS, and I did around the same amount of play with them as I did Cosmo and they were happy to allow me to come in on Friday and even invited me to their VIP New Year's event. I had the room until Monday, but checked out on Sunday to give the Cosmo some play. I did about $40,000 coin in slots at SLS the 2 nights I was there, so of course they comped everything.

My play as Cosmo was decent. I asked for a host to see about comping the food charges. The person stated I had good play and to check with them before I left to see what they could do. Which wasn't a bad response. We had to leave about 4:00 am today. So I emailed Kevin and I get the sense that a few others on other boards and some on this one have felt... Cosmo is a hot property and if you're not a big shot, they don't believe they need your business and won't work to keep it. He basically said I only had enough play to cover my room. Based on my calculations, I played more than enough to cover the room and I'm sure I had enough left to cover at least some of the food charges. I had a room booked at Aria for three days and did the same amount of play I did at Cosmo and they comp'd my food and beverage. I don't think I've ever had a property not comp my food cost with good play. The decision is very clear... I'll go play and spend my money where I'm valued. Thanks to the VMB for giving me a new property to try. CET has always been very good me and I will always keep Diamond with them; but trying for 7 Stars this year. I believe I will focus on Aria and SLS my next Vegas trip. SLS wasn't as lively as most, but I had some great wins and the staff was wonderful. I have a nice bounce back offer from the Palazzo. I played there a little in November and they sent a $250 FP offer with $150.00 FB. I may check them out too.

More to come as I will be back in Vegas late February to early March....

I recently stayed at the Cosmo for the first time too. I'm not surprised Kevin was unable to offer the comped night on New Year's Eve, it's a busy night. What was your Cosmo play, points and/or coin-in for the 3 nights? SLS and Cosmo are not comparable properties. You will get more 'bang for your buck' at SLS. A few years ago Wynn used to say $5,000 coin in/day was needed for a room, and depending on your room type that could be in the ballpark at Cosmo too. Palazzo has been my happy place in Vegas, and based on my experience, comps at a similar level to Cosmo. Just a heads up in case you decide to stay/play there. How was your experience with the Cosmo otherwise, accommodations, restaurants, casino? Hope it was an enjoyable trip overall! Comps are great, but it's just as important to find a property where you feel comfortable, valued, and at home.

i disagree with every one thats its a hot property.

its a really nice hotel in a great location with great nyc resturants with that buzz but it doesnt have top night club or pool parties any more.

i think its becuase its a very modern trendy kinda new york la type of hotel kinda what the sls was targeting with very hip resturants.

thats whats making it hot but the lack of a top nite club or pool party is not .so its kinda a toss up.,it also looks like its getting a little older crowd. they did a great maketing compaign

also more stupis table players who dont know the differnce or care about crappy rules , as u know they not table based any more there targeting slots so theres that shift also,

thats my rant and take on the place.

ps expect parking charges to take effect around april.

It may not be hot from a club buzz point of view but it is from a gambling point of view, especially slots. They were very aggressive over the past year and it paid off. They got a lot of players in and now they don't have to be quite as aggressive on things like back end. I think they were probably overcomping back end for a while. I was really surprised at the back end amount I got on a trip a year ago; I hadn't even planned to ask for any.

My comp offers are still in line with my expectations given my play level. I honestly haven't seen a significant difference in the total comp value of my offers at Cosmo vs MGM or CET yet.

But everybody has to make their own calculations and judgment as to whether they are getting more comp value somewhere else.

My wife and I stopped by on NYE and talked to our slot host. (Back story, we knew here when she was at her previous property and has known my wife's family for years). We were talking to her in the host office in high limit table games and a gentleman came in and asked for an identity card. The man had a stack of $100's that was easily in the neighborhood of $50,000+ at least, if not more. They were $10,000 bands and I couldn't get a count on it but it was a 6" tall stack. She told him they could make it at the table itself and she would be out momentarily to come speak to him at the table. He was playing baccarat. She then told us that New Years was crazy and they were completely sold out. So being there myself I have a pretty good idea why Kevin was short with his response, it was just very busy. Then throw in CES coming in, these two weeks are a shit show for them.

Comparing SLS and Cosmo is like comparing Stratosphere and Wynn. SLS casino is a ghost town at all times, so yes you will receive great comps, its out of necessity, not due to your play.
