No one hurt and it was quickly extinguished.

According to Dave McKee's Stiff and Georges blog on LVA, they had two electrical fires in two days. CET needs to put some money into that casino.

I agree; it was my home Casino during the Marnell days. I stayed for the first time in many years in July and no way I'd stay again without an extensive renovation. Sad to see how badly it's declined under CET.

Rio is a hole. An absolute hole. McHarrah'$ started taking it down in short order and the past decade-plus it has just tanked.

I wouldn't go that far Ken,but it has gone downhill for sure.I honestly never noticed till about 5 years ago.I never cared for the Show in the Sky anyway..I like the sportsbook and the deli there and the VP bar.Only thing that has changed there is lowering the paytables. And I think I can comment here as I have stayed there every year once or twice per since 2002.
Taking out the coffee makers and the resort fees are bothering me but may still stay again comped of course. You cannot beat the size of the room for the price IMO.

Nerve racking to read this thread for all of us CZR customers. I believe it was Bally's that had a massive fire a couple of decades ago where many died...although the building was MGM at the time. Still, same building. Having a local CZR property right near my home (like many), I am a diamond level player and take advantage of their rooms while in LV. I barely gamble at the properties as there are so many better gaming options in LV rather than waste my money at CZR but the rooms are great and free. Maybe I'll stick with floors below the 8th floor in the future.

It is what it is. Given the potential of the place, extra demerits are earned for tanking it, in my estimation. The big room footprint long was an asset, but when it's filled to the grade of a Motel 6 ... And look at the food lineup back in the day and where it has wandered off to now. Or the one-time locals-grade gambling. I haven't seen the spa in years because it already had become an afterthought by the time we gave up on Rio.

Very scary..wondering if you can break the windows at the Rio. One stay there I noticed what looked exactly like a bullet impact but no actual hole.

Your ignorance is astounding. The backup generator worked perfectly and was working perfectly for hours. Water from the sprinkler system (from the earlier fire) shorted out a conduit and tripped a breaker.

Really, posts like this are a reason to feel bad about oneself.

I went roomless for the first night of my July stay. We arrived at 11:00 pm. I had reserved a Samba suite. When I got to the room I was assigned, it was not a Samba suite and was furnished exactly as it had been a decade before. The room was beyond worn and nasty! I wouldn't stay in it and CET didn't find me a Samba suite until 4:00 pm the next day. It merits the hole rating imo.

Wow, breanna61, that had to be a rough experience and inexcusable on the part of Rio.

Never stayed there but used to like playing slots there and watching poker tournaments, once it lost its fun vibe for us a few years ago, we stopped going there.

Just glad no one was hurt and hope they turn the place around.

Relax, Vinnie. You're both right. The linked article did say that the backup generator failed. You're also correct that the reason it failed was a result of water intrusion from the first fire. But Corrine didn't say anything inaccurate

"Someone's head should roll." is definitely inaccurate and defitely uncharitable.

That's my opinion and after being told that at Paris there weren't enough staff trained to help guests to get out of a dangerous situation that is inexcusable in my book.
