You DO realize that pay parking is not unusual anywhere else, right?

I mean folks complain about stuff in Vegas changing and that's cool but to equate it to pay toilets is ridiculous.

Also, folks saying it's getting out of hand won't mean anything if you keep paying. It really isn't the principle. It's the money. You mentioned nickel and diming.

Vegas has become Spirit Airlines but upscale.

Yes I realize that paid parking is common elsewhere, but except for AC I don't think any casinos have paid parking. And no it's not the money, it is the principle. I'll still go to Vegas, and they know that people will deal with all the nickel & diming. The paid toilet comment was a joke but I wouldn't be surprised if they try to charge a fee to enter the casino. I've heard casinos in some countries do. Also I believe if you have a higher than entry level players club status they comp the parking. Well I think they should comp it for all players. My last trip to Vegas the Golden Nugget had paid parking. I can understand that since it's close to office buildings and they only want casino customers utilizing the parking lots. But I gave my parking ticket at the tables and they stamped it for free parking.

Sorry for the long rant, but I'm a little disappointed in what's happening to my favorite vacation spot.

yes there are some casinos in other countries that charge an entrance fee, usualy ur conceriege can give u a ticket to get around it .also other countries dont have free drinks at alot off there casinos

yes i know people who becuase off the resort fees and other fees are picking other place too vacation ,becuase what once was a cheap place supported by gambling is becoming as over priced as any major city now.

bargings are far and few between. cheeap food gone, cheap nice room gone, concerts forget about it ,its basicaly the same as a major metropolitian city

i disagree . people who drive here from out off state are staying or doing something at your property. i belive ur losing business.

locals are just skipping the strip all together now .
if your driving to x your spending some money there so now u just skip going there.
so now basicaly people dont realy drive around the strip from property to property the walk they drive to off strip or the outlet malls persee.so basicaly ur car is parked. people losing the valet on tips and other properties and people went go if they have to pay again to park

also except on special event nites its not like u cant find parking anywere. there masking it alot bigger problem than it is.

i wunder if the own stock in uber and lyft

most good malls valet for spending .

Actually if you want to stay in Cleveland at Jack Casino there are parking fees, though waived for tiers. We went to a concert in Toronto paid about $300 Canadian for a room plus had to pay $35/night parking. It is a drag however I believe that CET tried to do the best they could with using platinum and above for free parking. I think MGM opened a horrible can of worms but like others have stated you can't blame the other casinos because all that is going to happen is their parking garage will be full of other properties guests. I don't like it but understand CETs and Cosmos thoughts................Rick

Stayed at the older casino in Niagara Falls last year for New Years. The hotel tried to ding me $30 for parking but won't they don't tell you is that you can also scan your players club card and see if you qualify for free parking. I played less than $100 of my own money and got free parking. They actually tell you when you login online to the PC if you qualify for free parking.

The drinking this is something else unreal all together. The smaller "slots" places limit you to one drink an hour to a maximum of three per visit.

Casinos in other cities do charge for parking. The ones in the burbs and rural areas don't and shouldn't because their parking availability is like that of an off strip casino with usually no one but casino customers to serve. The difference with other city casinos is they will validate your parking for coming to gamble. Their motivation is to keep other people from using their garage to go elsewhere.

My frustration with the parking fees is that the intention is to extract money from folks who are actual customers. And the explanation why coming from MGM was insulting because there were more reasonable ways to handle the arena than make most hotel gues pay for parking. The resort fees at their current ratea would make sense if they included parking but the parking fees on top of resort fees are nuts.

Binions eons ago had free parking for guests and gamblers through validation at the cage. I recall some type of time clock device next to the guard who sat in the " shoeshine type " chair. Someone initialed. All others paid, although if I recall correctly it was nominal.

The reality is that they're trying to squeeze money from the non-gamblers. The resorting, conventioning, sight seeing chaps and chappettes. While I say also do like CET in AC and have parking be a part of the resort fee, they won't do that. If CET was smart, though, they'd do one of the other things they do in AC: spend $75 on food or earn 25 tier points and get free parking.

"Pay toilets will be next" - I can see the casinos issuing tickets for the restrooms only upon a given amount of play... like they are doing for drinks now.

I guess the one good thing about all the nickel and diming is that it must be a sign of a good economy. They institute all these fees and the people are still coming. So as long as their not losing customers it will continue. I'm sure the bean counters are dreaming up new revenue streams. I'm staying at Cosmo in April and I think I read that if you want them to remove the items in the mini bar it's a $25 fee. That's just insane. But we the people let them get away with. We vote with our collective wallets. Any business will try to get away with as much as they possibly can. Throw it against the wall if it's sticks then everyone else will follow like the paid parking.

It's humorous to think a non trivial number of people are going to "vote with their wallet" on this parking fee change.

    6:5 BJ worked
    resort fees worked

The two above negatively impacted at least an order of magnitude more people than the parking fees will. Vegas had a record year in 2016.

Enjoy throwing the term "bean counter" around as a pejorative. They've been right every time.

Yes they have been right every time. And yes not enough people are voting with their wallets to stop the nickel & diming. But this forum is for the Vegas enthusiast to voice their opinions on. And yes even if everyone on the board stopped going to Vegas it probably wouldn't hurt their bottom line much. But this board provides a place to rant.

I am a CPA and it is pretty annoying the way the term is used. I am sure many of the people that are bitching are plenty happy when the "Bean Counters" at companies they own stock in cut costs/increase revenues and it increases the value of the stock. Since you know, that is their job. As you said they have not really been wrong yet, and if it turns out that charging for parking cripples the city, which I doubt, they will stop charging for it.
