Why do I have to leave between "offers"?

I just finished booking my February trip. I am staying for 15 days, which is FAR more than I normally do. The reason being, I am going to golf. I had two offers at Orleans. One for three nights and the "Big Game Party". The other for 3 nights and some free food. I know that there is a stipulation of 72 hours between using offers, so I was on the phone with reservations when the lady told me that no.........you actually have to vacate the hotel for 72 hours.

This is just crazy! I am willing to pay your hotel for an additional 3 nights, and you don't want it? It's more convenient for you to inconvenience me? So now, I am at Orleans for Fri-Sat-Sun, head to Gold Coast for (get this) TWO NIGHTS, not three.....and then schlep my crap back to Orleans for the next week and a half?

    That's just dumb.

don't get it myself either - I did my longest trip last year (7 nights) - I booked 4 nights at Excalibur (comped) and when I tried to use another offer to book my last 3 at Luxor they told me about this 72 hour MLIFE rule... no biggie - I just used a CET offer at Flamingo for the last 3 nights. I thought MLIFE would rather have me stay at one of their hotels....

Okay, you have to step back and understand offers.

They give you offers/comps for one reason, and one reason only. They hope you will come and "donate" enough cash to cover the cost of that comp and then some. They have decided that you are not going to drop more money just because you are there longer. After a few days, the business model fails on their part. They are still giving you stuff, but you have stopped giving them money/gamble in return. Seems to make good sense.

Remember, this is not directed at YOU, but gamblers in general. It is just a business.

Why 72 hours? Who knows, but that seems to work for them.

Making you leave does not seem logical to you, but it works for them.

The offers are really a moot point. If I had zero offers, I would have just booked my 14 nights and that would be fine with them. What other business does this?

If I go get two-for-one Whoppers at Burger King this afternoon, they won't tell me I have to eat across the street for three days before I can use another coupon.

The Orleans is turning down revenue AND gambling dollars! I'm pretty certain that I will be doing 100% of my gaming at Gold Coast while I am staying there.

I see what you are saying to me.....but I will never be able to grasp it.

You are totally able to book 14 nights in a row with no problem at regular rates. You can also book the first three nights on an offer and just pay for the rest.

So, is the "other" Casino giving you offers?

Yes, the two nights I will be at GC are comped. Ultimately, I will have 8 of the 14 nights comped, which is great. If I wanted to skip all over town, I could sleep free every night. I don't like to pack up and move. The move gets me 5 more free nights. The move out and back saves me about $500 over the cost of paying for those 5 nights.

Makes no sense to me. None.

Even the standard 72 hours between offers makes no sense to me. If they think everybody's daily bankroll gets smaller every day they're in town, why wouldn't they prefer having you use Offer 2 on nights 4, 5, 6 instead of 7, 8, 9?

Yes, they would like you to stay at their hotel for the last three nights. But, they figure you will be out of money to donate to them, so they will no longer give you a free room in hopes of getting more money from you. All casino comp offers are a gamble on their part. History has shown them the gamble after a few days is not worth it. So, you can stay, they just not are going to gamble and give you a comp room.

I see what you are saying now. I didn't before. I'll show them! I'll lose my ass at the end of the trip!

one of the many bizarre things that the casino operators do to drive away customers. and there are many of them. I kind of get it but not really. you want to force me to leave for 72 hours and into the open arms of competitor? and then come back when my bankroll has dwindled? rocket science!

I believe all casinos have this rule. I know cet and boyds do. But Boyds you can use comps at downtown and then off strip ones back to back
