I read this yesterday and didn't have time to write anything, but I was basically thinking along the lines of what @paperposter is saying:

    • You only had one previous trip (I think) at V/P, so they don't have a real track record from you that's long enough for anyone there to go to bat for you and say your recorded play was out of character for you.
    • The proportion of your play you say they missed is large; their thinking is going to be "No way we missed that much."
    • Time elapsed since the missed play and the somewhat short duration of those sessions - they're gonna go, "We gotta go track this guy down on video for 2 days?" For the amount involved, they're just not gonna do it. You can say, well, then, they should just give me the benefit of the doubt, but they gotta draw the line on that when the claim is made way after the fact. You can get the benefit of the doubt a lot of times if you jawbone at the table after a session.

Assuming they did miss all that play, that's definitely frustrating and it would leave a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know how long you want to hang onto it though.

Okay, if all the play was actually tracked, would it have been enough to cover that backend comp?

Remember, they already gave the player over $2000 in comps for that trip.

I think this is the root of the problem, not the pit bosses repeatedly forgetting to track your play. It wouldn't be the first time a computer system update screwed up data. Just my opinion.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Hope you get resolution.

had a similar situation at Paris. on a 5 day comp, when I went to ask the host on duty about backend comp (tier credits averaged 800 plus per day) he said I was overcomped for the room because I was upgraded to a suite (didn't ask for it, was just done at check-in- no $20 trick or anything). Didn't get a cent taken off.

Totally agree. This happened to me back in 2008. I put my card in a machine and it wasn't registering, so I went to the players club and was told they were updating their system but all points were still actually recording. I took them at their word and played all day and lost quite a bit. Turns out, they lied, and the points were NOT being recorded. I was actually playing that day to bump up my offers and renew status. They lost me because of that deception.

To the OP -- so sorry this happened to you. We play with future expectation in mind, but the casinos are too short-sighted to see that and rarely end up making it right. IMO, V/P is one of the worst at this!

This is not my experience at either Mlife or Cosmo. I just stayed at Cosmo a couple of weeks ago and they said my play was in line with my up front comps, but I got jack shit for back end comps. (In all fairness, this was probably in line with my ADT.)

To the OP: It sounds like you got screwed with the computer upgrade. I say to go screw V/P and take your play elsewhere.

I would like the OP to wait and see what is gifted for the next front end comp, If cool, go back and play, but with no expectation of receiving any back end comps. Fair?

Yes, that is the norm. You are exactly right. Some folks seem to think those upfront comps are "earned" from the last trip and have no bearing on the current trip. Nobody is going to give a player $2000 in upfront comps and not take that into account before offering back end comps. Why would the casino give away all that money and then give more? Simple business.

I am pretty sure some of these people have never run a business where the general rule is to take in more money than you give out.

Yeah this is something to be wary of. Even a comp upgrade at check in results in a higher comp rate of the room that you have to play out of to get back end comps.

It's happened to me before, and I verified with a host and a check in clerk that I would in fact need to play out of a higher comp value on the room.

So now if I don't need a suite, I just request them to put me in a regular room if they try to upgrade me at check in.

Just curious if your buddy's play was rated, and if he was shorted too.

There as another thread earlier this year that talked about this. A successful $20 trick at check-in may result in a higher comp value to the room.

Heard back from host's supervisor. Very professional and courteous. He said he asked to review security tapes and confirmed that only 2 hours of play were recorded for the three days (showing play in only 4 separate sessions).

He said that given that they only tracked me for 2 hours of play they could not extend any more comps.

No sense in beating a dead horse, I though, so I thanked him for his time. He said that in the future make sure I talk with the pit before leaving a session to make sure the Buy in, time and avg bet were accurate.

Not that I care if anyone believes me but i wouldn't come on here to bitch and moan about this if there wasn't an ounce of truth as to what I've said regarding playing more than 2 hours total for that weekend.

My point of posting this wasn't to cry about not getting a backend comp with only 2 hours of play for a weekend or cry about the host not using a discretionary comp out of good faith, but to state the obvious that this player tracking system is flawed, which is nothing new but something to keep in mind for future visits.

Man that's messed up...not like you were playing baccarat or something where they go by shoe...but playing BJ should be down to within 5 minutes...

I remember hearing stories where the supervisor rectified after going to the tapes, but I guess you couldn't give him an approximate time for all your sessions...

Reminds us to ask the host for the rating every day...

    Thanks for the update!
I never bellieved that you only played 2 hours for 3 days. Not possible for a true gambler.

I agree, getting tracked is often an issue.

BUT - if they had counted ALL of your play, would it still have been enough to add those back end comps on top of the room, FP and GC you already got?

I don't know. I "normally" play 3-4 hours a day. Here are my numbers from the prior trip @ Cosmo for a three day trip in early November Time: 10:36, Avg: 545, Theo: 3129, Lost; 19,710.

This trip I played abut more at 4-5 hrs bc there wasn't much else to do.

There are people here who are smarter than I who can figure out whether everything would've been covered.
